Futurenurse84, thanks for the feedback :-) I contacted the school and was told that my chances of getting in this Fall are good, so I will keep my fingers crossed! At least I'm guaranteed to get into the Fall 2013 program if I don't get in this fall. I let the health occupations office know that I wont be able to make it to the orientation on June 10th, so they are making note of that. I guess they might even videotape the orientation for students in my situation. I will contact them again closer to June 10th to make sure that they know I wont be there for the orientation.

Good news! :-) My husband is requesting to be discharged from the military early so that we can move to Humboldt county before fall semester starts. So I decided to keep my spot at number 4 and hopefully get offered a seat this fall. As a back up plan (in case my husband is not able to get the early discharge) I can try to move into the on campus housing and I might know someone who lives in the area that I could stay with for a few months during fall semester (in case housing is all filled up). This has been one stressful week! lol Do you guys really think I have a good chance of getting a seat for this fall with my number being 4? I hope so! Also, how mandatory is the June 10th orientation? If I get accepted and can't make it, will I lose my seat? And I know numbers 1-10 are invited, but if I don't show up and a seat becomes available, would I lose my chance? I emailed the college about this, so hopefully I hear back from them soon.

I contacted CR and asked if I could be pushed back on wait list, because I wouldn't be able to start this fall. I was told that under special circumstances a person could be allowed to be kept on the wait list for the next program. I have to get permission from the dean, so we will see how that goes. It sucks that the Eureka campus is now on the same schedule as the Del Norte schedule. The next LVN program at Eureka doesn't start until fall 2013! :-(

My husband and I share 1 car and I've never even been to Humboldt County before. There are many reasons why it just wouldn't work out for me to go down there this fall if I were to move up on the wait list and get accepted. I honestly expected to have to wait 1-2 years before getting into nursing school. On the status letter it says there is a mandatory orientation on June 10th and that if your number is 10 or less, you are invited to attend. It then says that if a seat becomes available for you, you will receive an official acceptance letter at that time. Does that mean that those who attend the orientation will fill new available seats and everyone else stays on the waiting list? That would make sense because those who attend the orientation can obviously attend the LVN program this fall and the orientation is mandatory. I'm going to call the college some time next week and hopefully get some answers.

So I finally got my letter in today. :-) I'm number 4 on the wait list. I'm glad I'm such a low number on the wait list, but if I move up and get accepted for this fall I will have to decline. My husband is in the military and we will be stuck in Washington state til Dec. Does anyone know how the wait list works? If people before me decline and I move up and get accepted for this fall, can I request to be moved back on the wait list for fall 2012? Or will I have to apply all over again this winter if I decline this fall? I hope not..

Me too! I'm freaking out! lol On the Health Department page on the CR website it says that all status letters will be mailed out by April 30th, so only 10 more days!

I just applied to the eureka campus. I didn't know I could apply to both. Have you received your status letter in the mail yet? I'm still waiting for mine...

Hello XtinaS :-) Yes I did apply to the LVN program at CR last week. The college accepted LVN applications from Jan 31st until tomorrow, Feb 11th. Did you apply? I should find out by April if I got in this fall or of my wait list number. I know they have a lottery system, so after Feb 11th all qualified applicants will be randomized and chosen by lottery. I'm nervous! I hope the wait isn't too long. I'll make sure to post on here after I find out more info in April.

I know this post is old, but I was hoping you could give me some info about College of the Redwoods. I am applying to the LVN program next month and I am trying to figure out what is the average wait to get into the LVN program after applying? Do you know how long the wait is for the LVN-RN and RN program? I've been trying to figure this out, but I can't seem to find anyone who knows about the waitlists. The school wont tell me for some reason. Since you've been at College of the Redwoods for a while (your post is from 2009), could you tell me if you like the campus and how do you like the Eureka area? Thanks in advance! I really appreciate any info I can get :-)

I have extremely high arches. The pain I used to get in my feet, knees and hips was terrible. I got my feet tested at Runner's World and they told me I had abnormally high arches and that I needed shoes with stability (I use Asics) and they "prescribed" me Superfeet Green insoles. Now these are awesome! They feel a bit uncomfortable at first until your feet adjust to them, but you'll notice a difference immediately! They are about $35 and I highly recommend them for people with high arches. If you have a Runner's World in your area, it would be a good idea to get your feet tested by them. I plan to apply to the LVN program offered at College of the Redwoods this Spring. I've contacted the school and asked 3 times about the average wait and I've gotten no answer. They just ignore my question, which makes me think the wait must be long for their nursing programs since they don't want to answer that! I heard the wait for the RN program is about 3 years. How about the LVN-RN program? I just want to have some sort of idea as to how long it will take me to get in once I've applied. The average wait time at other schools in CA for LVN programs can also give me an idea of how long the wait should be. So, if any of you who did a LVN program could let me know how long it took you to start the program once you applied, I would greatly appreciate it! :-) Thank you so much in advance! :)
