Come on guys and girls need pay info LPN'S! HELP!!!
The pay sucks as an LPN I left N.O pre Katrina Jan 2006. I was in disarray and broke. A lost puppy. The cost of living doesn't add up to the pay cut. I can make $13/hr without a highschool diploma. I felt an employer does not have the right to mandate you to work on your off day. I did not like how N.O treated their nurses particularly the Northshore. I don't like a dictatorship environment As you employer you are.... A team is my type The Penske truck rental rep stated he has made so much money off people moving to LA and turning around and leaving. My pay as a LPN was compared to a CNA with no experience $13/hr. As a LPN up north I make over 24/hr on staff and agency 30-32/hr they pay shift diff, shift pick up bonus +OT. I will not work for anything less. I love to visit family and friends but as far a ever having an address in LA-N.O. Absolutely NOT.

Dirty South Is Plain Old Dirt Cheap
Recently relocated to Slidell, Louisiana from Wisconsin for family reasons just amazed at how low the wages are for nurses people without degrees oversee the wages offered. I can commute to New Orleans but the cost will cancel out any pay increase. As far as the cost of living Milwaukee, Wisconsin was cheaper my rent for a 2br/1 ba was $500/mo in Louisiana I pay $725/mo go figure thinking about moving back soon if things dont get stirred up in my direction. Lpn with 5+ years of experience 14/hr get out and run back north because a new lpn grad in wisconsin makes 16-17/hr base. I was making $19/hr w/$2.25 shift diff the only facitilies that pay here in Louisiana are ones with at least 1000 employees or corporate owned what happened to competitive pay for all the others. I guess I will just have to visit my family 1-2 year via a flight because its not worth taking a $5-6/hr pay cut with 3% raises a year.

Dirty South Is Plain Old Dirt Cheap
I am outraged at the jobs here I cant believe the pay rates. All you here is the cost of living. Things are getting more and more expensive health insurance, gasoline etc. but pay rates are at a stand still. Paying a nurse 11/hr whats the point of going to school if you can work as a nursing assistant for 16/hr in Wisconsin I am so disappointed.

Excelsior Withdrawal
How is the exams at excelsior are they difficult? I am a LPN considering enrolling did you clarify your problems and did you find out whether you could keep your credits? I not sure if I should enroll in excelsior. The ASN program seems expensive and I dont know the success rate of people who enroll if they earn their degrees or are stuck with a bill with no degree. Thanks nicmoe

Excelsior a good fit for a former ASN?
Hi I am from Wisconsin I'm trying to decide to go to excelsior or an LPN-RN transition program. Planning to relocate to louisiana I have my louisiana license but worried about the wages. I will have to work and care for 2 small children. I have four years of experience working as an lpn in LTC, med/surg and psych. Does the Louisiana State board accept excelsior ADN graduates? And do you recommend any particular nursing homes for employment? In Wisconsin is the pay is better than clinic and hospitals wandering if its vice versa in louisiana? I plan to live in Slidell but willing to work in New orleans or Slidell depending on pay?

Thanks a lot for the info I am a lpn looking to relocate I specialize in psych and geriatrics I know in wisconsin lpns earn more in nursing homes than hospitals the rates $14-16 hr are those base or with differential. I also wanted to know does new orleans pay more than outside parishes or vice versa. If so do you know any good nursing facilities or corporations to work for. I have my louisiana license but unsure about the wages.

Has anyone attended Delgado Community College?
hi i am new to this site but I am a LPN currently living in wisconsin i have my diploma from an accredited school of nursing with 4 years of experience. I would like to relocate to louisiana and have plans to get my ADN at Delgado I am a single mom of 2 I dont really know what the pay of a LPN in Louisiana I will have to work and go to school. The pay I assume is less than Wisconsin. A new LPN graduate base hourly wage is start at $17.00 hr. I currently make $22.25 an hour and I work temporary agency at $28.00-$30.00 hr Thank nicmoe please feel free to reply
