  1. Hello to all, hope this thread was useful to all. I just wanted to come back and give you my status after starting thread. I am currently attending MDC generic program. It is a dream come true. My advise is to be patient and persistant in reaching your goals.
  2. tragically hip , if we start a discussing on what your views and my views are on pa and nursing or pa and arnp we will most likely never finish the discussion. there are many similarities especially since the opportunities in the nursing field are enormous once we start to looking into specialties in a master level. in regards to the pa program at mdc i completed the entire process including the shadowing and examination required. my goal is to work in the medical field so i created as many opportunities as possible under my circumstances to make it possible. that is why i encourage others to try entering in the medical field in more than one way whether it is at a lpn position or to acquire a bachelor that they can utilize later on in their career or use it for the accelerated program.
  3. Tragically hip, I had three different plans, my 1st plan was to apply for MDC PA program on January because it is very inexpensive, 2nd plan was to apply for MDC RN in may, in case I did not get accepted to the PA program and my 3rd was to fully focus on applying for a master programs in case MDC did not accept me into either programs since I am finishing my bachelor in biology this summer so that I could later apply for PA or AA (anesthesiologist assistant).
  4. studybudy12, Be patient. Your time will come. This is coming from someone that has been in the same predicament as you. I have received so many no's but I was determined to never give up. I got deny twice for pharmacy school, I got deny once at bcc for nursing, I was told in 2008 to not even waste my time in applying for the nursing program at mdc because I was not going to get in, these words come from a advisor, I got deny for the PA program at mdc this month. I had to decline going to lpn school last year because my finances were not set. When is your time there is nothing that will get in your way. I'm praying for you.
  5. I received my acceptance email today in my mdc email. stat: sciense GPA 3.8 and 70% on TEAS. Congratuation to all.
  6. Is nutrition consider to be one of the science that have to be passed w/t a B or higher?
  7. Congrats Raquel for getting accepted. I'm trully happy for you. If you dont mind can you please email me with the name of the person that accepted your teas scores from keiser at [email protected]. I have been getting the run around from them.
  8. Thanks for the advise. I called and spoke w/t an advisor regarding my teas and he said that they will not accept it. I took my teas V in June at mcfatter for the lpn program. He also stated they will not provide me any living assistance funding from the loans. My biggest thing is finding away to finance my self while in school.
  9. hi raquel6687 how did it go w/t the school? also, did they accept the teas from keiser?
  10. This info is so helpful. Thanks to all who participated.
  11. Thaks alot for the site.
  12. Hi, Have you taken both exams? How did it go? What kind of questions did you get on the hesi? Do you think studying for the teas v can also prepare you for the hesi w/tout having to buy any additional books other than the teas v from ATI?
  13. I was wondering, how long is the nursing core courses? Is the program 18 months including the general elective courses or not counting the general elective courses? I am undecisive btw keiser and florida national college because fnc is one year only including the nursing core courses. I completed all of my general elec. courses at mdc because when I completed an AA. I would really appreciate your advise.
  14. nursejeninprogress11 you have been so helpfull. i really appreciate you helping me. i'm preparing for the teas v for this week. what did you use to study for the teas v? pray for me. i will give up a update on how i did.
  15. Hi nursejeninprogress11 I'm happy to hear that your were accepted. I wish you the best and hopefully if I attend fnc we will get to meet. I met w/t one of the advisors at fnc and was advise to take two of my five classes w/t the school for term b starting on feb 28, 2011. My intentions are to take three course w/t mdc and two w/t fnc inorder to have a guarantee seat. But I was advise by the director that for the current time they would only guarantee me a seat for jan 2012 only if I get accepted to the program. WOW! But she also mention that for the next term jan 2011, the school had originally planned to accept 30 students but instead accepted 60 because there were many students prepared. So there may be a chance that it may happen for the term that starts in may. I am so ready to start this journey but it is so discouraging to hear that I may have to change routes. nursejeninprogress11 since you have been through this process already can you answer some of my concerns? When did you originally get accepted to the school? Did the school originally guarantee you seat for the jan 2011 session or did they give you a further date? Any advise is welcome.
  16. Nurse betty08 did you already get accepted for the rn class of may 2011? Will you be taking some of the pre-reg w/t fnc?
  17. Thank you so much for responding cpet0619. Wish you the best with your pregnancy.
  18. Thank you so much for your feedback cpet0619. Please give me more feed back on your experience with taking the pre-req at FNC. Is it true that current FNC students taking the pre-req have priority over the prospective students that are applying for the ASN program?. I was thinking of taking one course at FNC. I am missing nutrition, microbiology, human growth and development and critical thinking/ethics. I register for these course at MDC. Also, is it true that FNC requires for all pre-req science course to be passed w/t a B or better? I got a C on Hum An & Ps II. I wanted to know if is possible to take the pre-req in the evening and weekends? How long does the semester last for the pre-req at FNC? How much will each pre-req credit cost? I'm worry about all these things because I work full time and I am a full time mother and wife. I notice that you had previously apply at Nova BSN program. What happen that made you change you mind? I was also thinking of applying to Nova's BSN program but I dont have the best GPA of 3.0 and I have a W on microbiology. I know by experience that it is hard to get accepted to Nova because in 07 and 08 I apply to the Pharmacy program at Nova and was not accepted.
  19. Hello to all, I'm interested in the ASN program at fnc. I would like to know the opinions from the current students and grads. I contacted the adm. office and this is what they mention to me. The program is regionally accredited (SACS). The program is a 1 year program. Classes are from M-F from 4-10. Clinicals are on weekends. The next start date is May 2011. There is a TEAS test to pass w/t min. passing rate of 75% and there is also a interview. The cost for each credit is $525, so approx it is $24,000 for the 46 credits needed to graduate. The program first started last year 2009 and the first class to take the NCLEX made 100%. I would like to know from those in the program: What material can I use to pass the TEAS? How was the interview and what question do they ask? How are the classes and clinincals? For those who are almost done with the program or have already graduated: Do you feel prepare for the NCLEX? Everyone interested in the program is welcome to comment!
  20. Hey miamiboi, Did you pass the TEAS? I'm also interested in the ASN with Florida National College. I contacted the admission office and they did mention to me that I had to take the TEAS to be consider. The guy I spoke with mention that this is the second class. The first class started last year in May 2009. Supposedly the first class made 100 on the nclex. I have most of my pre-req completed. I'm only missing 4 of them. I like the program because it is regionally accredited. This means that I could transfer to a regionally accre. school like FAU. Also, it is a 1 year program once I complete the pre-req. If I pass the TEAS, I'm planning on taking the last 4 pre-req left so that I can start the program in May 2011. I also like the fact that is a M-F from 4 to 10 and clinicals are on weekends. Each credit is $525, so it's approx. $24,000 for the one year I need. Please let me know how it goes for you.
