  1. The main reason that agencies "get by" with paying these ridiculously low rates to travelers is because "the travelers" take them!! I do NOT leave home for anything less than 35 an hour (With housing and travel seperate). Some agencies advertise 26 an hour- Well, here come the "new travelers" who jump on this "big money"............these new travelers take the low money and then wonder why they are not making more. Examples.......In the past I have been at facilities where "new travelers" make 26-29 an hour with basically the same benefits(diff. companies) but I make 35 plus and hour...........Why?...........because I will not accept those low wages.!!
  2. Am currently doing travel nursing in California but home is Waynesboro, MS- Am worried about Hurricane Katrina coming in......................Please email if you have any info about hurricane conditions in the area.
  3. I live about 50 minutes from Hattiesburg (Waynesboro area). Hattiesburg has Forrest General Hospital, Wesley Hospital and many nursing homes that are always looking for RN's. Warning............Have not heard anything positive about Wesley Telemetry Floor- I do travel assignments now and have heard of openings on their Tele floor- they cannot keep managers or regular staff on that floor (That Bad!) so it's staffed with travelers- There is also a new long term care facility in the area- I do not know if they are taking new grads though. I work PRN at the hospital in Laurel- South Central Regional Medical Center. I have worked there off and on for the past 11 years.......Approx 170 beds-smaller hospital than Wesley and Forrest General but I have always liked it there.............Hattiesburg has lots of things to do and you are still close enough to New Orleans and the Coast to take quick trips there for fun. Good luck with living in Hattiesburg!
