Kind of gross...but fever blisters
I pop a couple of lysine whenever I feel the first signs of one coming on and then once or twice a day. Most of the time it goes away or at least stops it from getting bigger. Also ice reduces swelling. Anyway, it works for me.

How do you feel about ADN nurses?
[ Puleeeze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never heard such a comment. I have been an RN for 6 months and an LVN for 12 years and not once has anybody ever mentioned that they could tell how much education I had by the way I talked. Doctors and staff who do not know me personally have always assumed I was an RN and I never tried to hide the fact I was not. However, I can tell you I was able to tell a couple of nurses were BSN's at the last hospital I worked at. They were all from the latest batch of grads and the four letter words that came out of their mouths showed me that a four year degree does not guarantee class. Enough said.

Resignation
I will be giving my 3 week notice next week from my position on a pedi unit where I have been for over 3 years. The problem is our manager. She has been very nasty to several nurses who have left and I don't need the stress of her wrath for the next 3 weeks. :angryfire Any suggestions on what to say in my letter of resignation? I am moving out of the area to be closer to family and the opportunities are better where I am moving. I already have a job paying more and the hospital is much nicer and modern. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Going back to school for LPN at age 47
I got my LPN when I was 41 and just got my RN at 52. I get ALOT of flack from the younger nurses on our unit but I just tell them to remember they will be my age one of these days and there will always be another young smarta** nurse saying the very same things. Never too old to learn.

Just took the NCLEX and it shut off at 75!!
I just passed my boards last month and I felt exactly the same way. And every other nurse I have talked to has felt the same way. It's part of the game. I got 75 questions and most the the people in our class got between 75 and 100. It's gonna be allright.

Any ACC students out there?
The instructors for the mobility program are different than the traditional for med surg except for L&D and peds. Clinicals are at Brack, Seton Main, St. Davids. Psych is at State Hospital and Seton Cove. I didn't say it was great I said it was tough. But mobility was only 3 semesters. 2 long 1 short. Almost all on line. We all did alot of griping because we weren't told about the online portion until the first day of orientation. Lots of things that could be improved but it's done, I'm finished. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

new LPN burned out and give up nursing
Find another job. It's not worth the stress. If you need to start out in a SNF or even a doctor's office. A less stressful job can build your confidence then you can move on to a different setting. All those nurses were once where you are now. And the post from the person who suggested that you pray, pray, pray DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
