Thank you for the encouragement! To clarify, the research position is not grant based so the question of job security isn't there. It sounds intriguing to be a part of research and being able to maintain specialized clinical aspects of the job. I am just nervous that f I turn down an offer within the clinical informatics field I would be missing out on a good long-term career move, like you mentioned. I am curious if individuals feel like research is a good long-term decision. I also understand that this is not be comparing apples to apples.

I am having a difficult time sorting between two opportunities that have recently come up. One is a Research RN Coordinator position within a cardiovascular division of a large research University. The other is working as an Epic Analyst for the implementation of Epic within a large hospital system. They are paying for the Epic training. Based on the feedback that I have been given at the end of each process I am expecting an offer from both jobs within the next week. Salary ranges sound comparable based on what has been stated to me in the process. Of course, there are personal decisions between the two (moving and raising our two small children closer to family or staying in a city/environment that we love). Does anyone have insight regarding either position, particularly long term career path opportunities related to them? This is my first time considering positions away from the bedside, does taking on a role that involves zero patient care limit future opportunities? Thank you!

Congrats to both mrmandap and kwilkoff! Anyone else hear back yet/make any decisions? I got accepted into the accelerated program starting in January. Now getting nervous as we get closer to starting! For those that live in the Denver area: any suggestions on where to look for places to live, either parts of town or websites to look at? We are moving from in state, so not quite LA, but I think some suggestions could help us all out that are planning a move.

cdids, Thanks for responding. Did you buy a PDA/phone or anything special for the program? I know some programs actually require it (UCCS does) - I don't think Denver mentioned anything yet. Do most people end up living near the campus or do a lot commute? We are currently in Colorado Springs and are looking for a place to rent in Denver, curious to how close we should be to the campus? Wondering what spots to look at moving to. How many people are typically in your classes? Is it just the accelerated folks or are the first few mixed with everyone starting in nursing? Where are the clinicals located, are they all on the campus or do some get out a bit more? If you are more comfortable I can give you my email. Thanks for the help!

OK, I know an old thread, but I just got accepted to the accelerated program starting in January. Has anyone completed or in the accelerated program? Any suggestions, tips? The info session was a little vague on what it actually looked like and I am having a hard time finding info on how to prepare - besides holding on tight!
