  1. http://www.enh.org/ I dont know about their orientation though..
  2. nevermind I just re-read the first post~!
  3. I am pretty sure the study you refer to was done here at Northwestern I believe it is is the new england journal of Med. Cynthia Wong MD was the P.I.
  4. wow what a deal. This is unfortunate because where I work NP's can be principal investigators(i dont know what they have to go through to get there though) I assumed it would be that way for CRNAs as well. so naive......
  5. you have a good point there- I just cringe at the thought of grant writing and trying to get larger institutions interested in this. Who knows what could happen though. thanks for your responses on this!
  6. I will have to look her up. I guess I was hoping to find more research by CRNA's when I searched the medical library..
  7. I apologize if this has been asked before. I work in clinical research and LOVE it. One thing that has been bothering me about taking the plunge into the Nurse anesthetist world is that I havent heard much about research/teaching opportunities. When I am older and wayyyy more experienced I would love to teach at the graduate level.. Is there anyone here who does a lot of research or is in academia?
  8. GOOD LUCK! I hope one day to make it back to maine as well, there is nothing like the sweet clean air and laid back attitude. Let us know how it goes.
  9. maybe you should shadow a doctor of osteopathy? It seems like you are looking for a holistic approach to care as well as an intense education... DO and NP are both great routes for that.
  10. I could have worded that better but I see what you are getting at. I guess I wonder if CRNA's feel like they "miss out" because they arent seeing patients/families over several years/visits. I realize the importance of Nurse anesthetist's relationship with patients I just never hear that much about patient/provider relationships and more about technology and procedures.(which makes sense) thanks for your opinion!
  11. Can anyone comment on the time they have with patients? As a CRNA do you feel like you wish you had more time to actually talk to/educate patients/more of a community involvement in health care? Or- as an NP do you feel like you have plenty of patient time but long for more autonomy and complicated cases? I do need to do some more shadowing I realize but if anyone can give their opinion id be grateful!
  12. what is the best way to go about asking a CRNA to let you shadow them? I dont know any CRNA's and was wondering if I should make a post in a lounge or find a hospital listing an leave messages? how would you all want to be approached? any CRNA's in chicago on here? :)
