Should I quit LVN school? Or struggle on?
Oh, regarding the PA program, I do not know of any around here and I am not able to move. Then there is the matter of time and money.

Kim, what do you mean 6 extra months? Our program has NO lee way. You either do it and pass everything or you are gone. They do not allow any part-time. They are sending memos out regarding pictures for the graduating class photos and people are reluctant to buy the cap until the next big exam.

Any Lpn's that would never become a RN?
Peoria. Yes, it is old but my point is that obviously the program has not changed. Anyone who googles it will find it and that was my motive. I wish I had seen the other post earlier.

PS, some of my classmates do not seem stressed, but they are also flunking out because they do not study.

I am in the same boat and have basically quit but not formally dropped yet (just decided this week). I also have a 4 year degree and find this more stressful than any other class or program I have ever done. The program I am in lost half the class last year..... The post above has some good valuable tips and I tried many of those things. Unfortunately they went by the wayside due to the amount of work and exams we have. I would love to get good sleep but there is NO WAY to do the work they want done and get sleep. Compound that with the stress and sleep is a scarce commodity. For example, you get patient information at 2PM Monday and have all of the paperwork along with a DETAILED 25 med med sheet (done with a dictionary, not internet) ready to hand in at 7AM Tuesday morning. SOOOO UNREALISTIC. I have a sister who graduated with honors (BA) who was helping me type and after 4 hours she looked at me and said ,"This is RIDICULOUS!" I have good grades, actually some of the best in the class, because I am unwilling to do anything half ass. I have been told this is 'weeding out'. My opinion of that is that they are driving good people out of the field before they even get a chance to get in it. PS Neko, those are good suggestions but honestly, my weekends are homework and studying. There is no way to keep up with the homework and reading if you do not devote a good part of the weekend to that. We have CONSTANT quizzes and exams, in class and on line (on our out of school time) as well as health skills labs that we are required to do on our time also. We have on the average 3 chapters in Pharmacology alone and 60-70 meds to learn every week. Half our class is SICK (really sick but are afraid to miss) and we have already lost 8 students in 8 weeks out of 32. I am sick now and still have remnants of the hives I got (stress) last week. I am done.

HA!!!! I guess things have not changed AT ALL at good ol ICC AKA Illinois Central College!!!! The LPN program is HELL. I am a tough person and have great grades but I am quitting!!! It is ridiculous!!! Yes, it is as if you have to prove yourself. The paperwork is INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it is even worse now. I have a BA and never in my life have I dealt with anything like this. They lost HALF the class last year and 8 weeks into this year we are down 8 students (out of 32!!!), does that tell you anything????

Got accepted!!!
Jessica, do tell. I am in ICC's LPN program and will probably drop out next week. I have good grades, but just cannot tolerate some of the stuff that goes on and what they expect. It definitely has problems, I see why they lost half of the class last year. We are already down at least 8 students (out of 32) in 8 weeks. Four of the students who left last year are carpooling to a school in Springfield and love it. Florida sounds wonderful and I am very familiar with the east coast.

Please help - should I just quit Nursing school?
Mrs Kangaroo, I am in a similar situation in many ways (good grades, etc) but i think my decision to quit has been made. However, in our program there is no hanging back, you are assigned a patient, you do it or you get a low clinical score. You also get very little assistance with your paperwork and our paperwork/meds lists are ridiculous. I have a "user" student and she is also in my clinical group where she monopolizes the CI. Good luck with everything.

is the lpn program less hard/stressful than the ADN program?
I am very intelligent and already have a BA. I am part-way through the 1st semester and am probably going to drop. There is more to it, but it is definitely not an easy program.
