  1. Hang in there... There are any number of things that can come crashing down at any given point in this field that you CANNOT be too hard on yourself. Use this as a lesson learned and it can only make you a better nurse! I'm hoping that they weren't too hard on you in meeting. Just remember all of them were new at some point and all of them have made mistakes. This will pass and something else will be the topic of discussion. Good luck!!
  2. Just curious... Do you ever feel like asking your patient to describe their pain in detail (location, intensity, duration, quality, alleviating, aggravating factors, etc.) seems to make their pain more intense? Sometimes while I am assessing patients their pain seems to intensify as they go into further and further detail (details which are required by my facility). Sometimes they have declined pain medicine recently and then after this assessment they want pain med right away... hmmm
  3. Since you are interested in OB/women's health... There are hospitals in my city where people can volunteer to do baby holding in the NICU's. Something like this could potentially get you known around the staff a bit and perhaps get someone to refer you to a position. Sometimes that can help you get your foot in the door.
  4. This was back in 2007 but it took me about a month to find a job. I had VERY little luck applying through hospital websites. However, I caught my lucky break when I went to an Open House at a local hospital. I went to the open houseresume in hand, met with some people, and the next day had a job offer. I agree with CrunchRN, you gotta get out and show your interest in person. Even if you have already applied online to a particular facility, still go there in person. This will show them how interested and motivated you are. :) Good luck!!
  5. oh ok... lol then
  6. I assure you Real Nurses do cry . . .
  7. This probably won't be very helpful so I apologize, but... You get nap time at work?!?! What utopia does this occur in?
  8. Thank you for the suggestion! Unfortunately that's not really an option for me ... I tried to spread the two out but due to the university's rules and timing of available classes I have to take the two together in order to finish in time to graduate this May... I'm ready to be done with school and get on with my life so going beyond May is not an option for me... I'm just trying to get a feel for what to expect...
  9. Just consider it a lesson learned and don't be too hard on yourself. I see this sort of thing all the time at work. If I have to get somewhere fast and there is no time to log off properly I just turn the computer monitor off... The screen goes black so no info is exposed but this won't protect you from someone else using your login while you are away. So you still have to be careful.
  10. Hi everyone! In a few weeks I start my last nursing class of the UTA online RN-BSN AP program. Has anyone taken the Capstone course? I am nervous because I am having to take it with TX Govt at the same time and I am hoping it will be feasible while working full time. Any feedback is appreciated.. I am really nervous about having to double up on the capstone course. Thanks!!
