  1. Are you talking about purchasing from http://www.allheart.com?
  2. They figure that to be a nurse, you need to be confident in your calculations. They give you I think twice or maybe even three times to make a 100, but if you don't and someone that was wait listed has, they'll take your place. I'm currently in Medical Dosages now and the first exam we had is exactly like the first calculations test for the program, so I've been studying those two (the practice exam they sent and my actual exam). My program's pass rate two years ago for first time NCLEX was 100%, the year before that 96%. They don't play around here! I meet with my new advisor for the program this week and from there, he'll give me all of my health forms and all the other standard stuff. Exciting times! What's your program like? Is it an every day thing?
  3. The fact that you've been accepted in a program, I would run with that. I understand your fear of not knowing anyone or afraid that it will take a while to make friends, but other than one or so person, I know of no one that is starting the program with me. You will make friends, because you'll have a common thread of surviving nursing school! So you may not graduate the month/year you thought, but seriously - you got in somewhere! Go!
  4. Ooh, that's a REALLY good idea! I'm going to do that!
  5. It was thick! It had an acceptance letter and my practice test for my calculations exam that I have to score a 100% on in order to start the program!
  6. My school is based off on GPA, next an interview and then finally needing to score 100% on a calculations test prior to actually starting the program.
  7. Exactly what PedsHopeful said, there is a 6 month waiting to retake. One of the schools that I went to had it set up that basically you could only take the test once prior to they granted admissions into the school. For example, they had their first test in November with deciding on applicants at the end of April. Best of luck to you on your test! Start studying EVERY night.
  8. I'm a military wife and my suggestion to you is to wait to be with him until after you've completed your program of study. If your plan is to get married, do so, but stay where you are and finish your program. You've done 4 years, another year should be a piece of cake - although I know the pain of being apart from your loved one. It's difficult to spend that time apart, but trust me, you will want to stay put and earn your degree. You can take your licensure test where he is though. I have been chasing my RN degree for the past 7 years, 4 states and 4 colleges later, I'm finally going to be starting nursing school this January. I have told my husband that should he get orders, he's going to be doing a geographical bachelor tour. As much as I love my husband, I cannot continue this mouse and cat game. And after speaking to my professors, they also have stated that it's extremely hard to transfer from one nursing program to another. Best of luck!
  9. Did you take any type of aptitude test in high school? If not, I believe that they offer them in college as well. Those are great for finding out what you're naturally good at. I would suggest looking into taking one of those to help steer you in the right direction. Good luck!
  10. While it's doable, I would not suggest heavy lab classes at once. I took my lab science classes one by one each semester while taking my other general education requirements for the program. It allows me to focus more on the coursework for those classes.
  11. Yes! I looked at mine for two hours, drove around with it, and even still needed my husband to tell me to open it. It was almost like I didn't want to.
  12. Good luck! I applied at the end of August and finally received a letter yesterday. Longest 6 weeks of my life and I couldn't even open the letter when I received it. I promised my husband, who is currently deployed overseas, that I would wait to open it "with him" via email. I was lucky that my current class load helped distract me immensely.
