  1. Dont Fool Yoursself, The Hospitals are running out of RN positions. Now the RN's are eye-balling nursing homes and home-care. Watch your back!
  2. If you wish to remain working in a hospital as LPN under Magnet Certification, get ready for demotion or termination. The hospital may decide, however, to allow you to work as a Nurses Aid, a Unit Secretary, a Janitor, or Kitchen help. But they will never allow you to work in any capacity as a LPN. Good luck!
  3. BEWARE THE MAGNET The Magnet Certification is a tatic promoted by the ANA. The ANA hates LPNs. There is no role at all for LPNs in the Magnet Certification. This not an overlook or accident. The ANA and Magnet want you gone!
  4. The ANA will never welcome LPNs because they view LPNs as SCAB LABOR. They have since Practical Nurses began being Licensed in WWII and taking jobs in hospitals. Now the ANA has a scam called "Magnet Certification" - with a deliberated goal of banning all LPNs from ever entering a hospital again. Likewise, the ANA is now on a mission of banning LPNs from Nursing Homes and Home Health. With all of this Hate and Bile the ANA has toward LPNs, do you really think they will ask LPNs to join them? Think again please.
  5. Dont be so sure, The Magnet is evading nursing homes. The ANA Magnet Certification organization is moving quickly to rid all hospitals of LPNs. The Magnet, does not even recognize the existence of your LPN license. For years the ANA has failed to "Phase out" LPNs do to Right-to-Work and other Labor Law precedent. However, the Magnet Certification is strong arming Hospital administrators to either eliminate LPNs in hospitals. Thus far they are doing very well. To make matters worse, now the ANA is invading long term care facilities to eliminate LPNs. And this must be stopped. If you are a LPN, work in a long term care facility, or whatever the case...watch out. Don't be fooled by this ANA gang or their elitist "Magnet Certification", like a charming snake, this gang will fool you, trick you, and bight you (fire you).
  6. You are correct, The ANA doesn't make law. State legislators make law regarding both LPN's or RN's. Most states, like the US Govt, have some form of constitution and amendments that acknowledge certain unalienable rights. Most states have laws and precedents that allow a person to work in their chosen trade without interference. Unless there is evidence to prove that LPNs are a danger or threat to the public at large, even the state legislators cannot simply "eliminate" a LPN, or their right to work...without some specific, quantifiable evidence, which meets State and Federal constitutionality. The ANA is just a club, that's it. However they are very powerful. Don't underestimate this gang.
  7. Any LPN who supports ANA Magnet Certification is Nuts, If you are a LPN, the ANA Magnet Certification does not even recognize the existence of your LPN license. Magnet certification strictly promotes "Registered Nurses", it is their chartered mission. If you doubt what I say, log onto http://www.nursecredentialing.org/Magnet.aspx and search for "LPN". You will see that the ANA only views you as a statistic, rather than a nurse. The ANA has been lobbying legislators to "phase out" LPNs ever since states began licensing practical nurses in WWII. Just as the ANA arose in the late 1800's, with RN's working along with physicians in Hospitals, the Practical Nurse arose in convalescent settings. When many RN's returned from WWII and found LPNs working in their former positions, they were not very happy. Rather than promote continuing education, advancement, and a career in Nursing...the ANA metaphorically told the LPN's to F-Off and get the Hell out. Because the ANA cannot "Phase out" LPNs do to Right-to-Work and other Labor Law precedent, the Magnet Certification is a dandy way to strong arm Hospital administrators to either eliminate LPNs in hospitals via attrition or downright termination without cause. This is happening in every Magnet Certification Hospital today.
  8. I have baptized since 1982 and have work in nursing for many years. The blood issue can be viewed in several different ways in which you may ask? Who orders the blood transfusion? The nurse or the doctor? Are you (the nurse) the only person in the "Chain" in administering the transfusion? (i.e. there is/are a donor, a technician who collects and stores the blood, lab workers who handle it, drivers who transport it to and from various sites, the people who make the needles, tubing, bags, and other equipment to collect/transfuse the blood, etc.) Is transfusing blood the primary role of your job? (legal precedent uses a 90/10 percent rule...which is anything that consume less than 10 percent of your work time may require accommodations made by your employer) Are there other procedure you would/wouldn't do as a JW that might be objectionable? (i.e. place a nicotine patch on a patient trying to quit smoking). Would you provide birth control or condoms to a patient for sex outside of marriage? If you were in another trade (like a grocery clerk, would you sell cigarettes along with food or other legitimate items) The Blood transfusion issue is something that every JW healthcare must use their mature Christian conscious to answer. Nor does the Watchtower Society spell out or micromanage every task required in your daily work. You alone must determine your actions and take a stand for what your conscious will allow, or not allow). Again, I have worked as a Nurse for many years and have administered many products and treatments that I personally would refuse. Likewise, I have also refrained from working in areas that absolutely would bother my conscious (i.e. Abortion Clinics). Pray about your decision, choose the work you are most comfortable. Likewise, if are suddenly placed in a situation where you have to step away NEVER abandon your patient to be left uncared or untreated. Enjoy your career in Nursing! SW
  9. this nonsense has been around every since ww2 and is continually instigated by the ana. i have been a lpn for 27 yrs and have heard this "phase-out" throughout my career. don't worry; lpn's are here to stay. this issue is rooted in the "ivory tower" thinking of the "american nurses association (ana)" which began in the early 1900's and was composed only of graduates of baccalaureate training in nursing. at that time no associate degree (ad) or lpn programs formally existed. however, the ana recognized existing 3 yr hospital programs (mostly nuns or poor) that lived and worked at hospitals in exchange for room, board, and nursing training. after 3 yrs, became rn's and eventually allowed to join the ana, as second rate nurses. as time continued the need for nurses increased greatly. some states began licensing nurses with 2 yr ad and 1 yr lpn. with much resistance within the ana it finally recognized ad rn's, but no way in hell could tolerate lpn's. like many political groups the ana need a convenient political boogey-man or scab. the lpn became the convenient scab for the ana made claims that lpn's were sub-quality threats to patient care. however, by the mid 1960's the value of lpn's was greatly recognized within the health industry and by all 50 state boards of nursing. lpn vocational schools arose quickly throughout the nation. yet, the ana, still dismissed the existence or contributions of lpn's. the ana knuckled a few state boards to "phase-out" lpns. however, federal labor laws and lawsuits over-ruled theses actions. the ana failed to prove the lpn practice was dangerous or a threat to the public at large. today, the ana continues to deny that lpn's are "nurses", and continually attempts to sabotage the lpn trade as often they can. but, again, do not worry. the ana is only a club and cannot make law. lpn's are in all 50 states and are "nurses". federal law and cases prohibit "phasing out" lpn's. please enjoy career in whatever field of nursing you choose! s.w. lpn, bs, mba - was this comment helpful? yes / no reply - report abuse
