  1. Hi, congrats on those accepted. I got accepted to the ABSN/MSN program last year but was unable to attend for financial reasons.
  2. @mandawyatt we have a lot in common. Were you told when to expect information on financial aid? Also any ideas of criteria for need based and merit aid? Wondering what the amounts are? I heard about cancellable loans by health service corps in exchange of 2yrs or more years of service in undeserved areas. Hoping the program will still be around to take advantage of. Scared of getting neck deep in debt!If I understand you well, financial aid said people don't turn down admission because of money? Will it be safe to assume most people get more aids than loans?(wishful thinking lol)
  3. Thanks T-Dasha. Sorry for overwhelming you with questions! Just curious about a lot of things. :)
  4. @mandawyatt I have also been a stay at home mom for a few years myself. I did not meet all the criteria for the scholarships as well but I just gave it a long shot to apply :). I was told it depends on how competitive the applicant pool is. Smyrna is in cobb county near Marietta area.
  5. @mandawyatt what side of town will you commuting from? I am probably 1hr away too from campus. I live in Smyrna/vinings area. I am thinking about making an appointment too with financial aid just to explore options! Did you apply for any of the scholarships?
  6. @ T-Dasha Nice to read from an ABSN student. I have some questions myself that I am curious about:-) 1. For the international summer immersion, do you get to pick which country to go or is it decided by faculty for the class? Hard to believe it is FREE! but that is so cool LOL. Is the trip for first semester? 2. Do students work as an RN after finishing the ABSN portion? while continuing the MSN program ? 3. How long is the ABSN/MSN program? can the MSN part be done part time? do you know if people that finish the ABSN/MSN program get hired right away as a Nurse Practitioner without working as a bedside nurse?
  7. @karcyn2 typing from my phone incidentally hit reply button. I meant to say your study group is huge, how do you all pull it off? I am open to study group if that is what will help me succeed. Thanks
  8. @ karcyn2 thanks for responding to my questions. For the check offs what I mean is how many attempts are you allowed to test for skill?eg health assessment skill.I have always studied alone for the most part, but i am open to our study group is huge! How does it work? Does everyone do independent reading and then get together to discuss?
  9. @ mandawyatt I have 2 boys- a 3 and half and my 2nd son turns 2 next month. Who did you make appointment with for financial aid? Is the appointment before Student's accepted day? I wish we could know about financial aid already.
  10. Hi [/url] karczyn2 I just got accepted into the BSN/MSN program that starts this may. I have a few questions myself - 1. Is it the norm for Georgia residents to have most of their tuition covered? I am anxious about how to pay for school. 2. For your checkoffs, what is the maximum attempt? 3. Is 5days a week of school typical? 4. If you don't mind what is the secret behind your first semester success (your grades are very impressive) can you share some tips on studying/exams etc
  11. @mandawyatt I felt the CSS pprofile was very intrusive as well. I am married with 2 kids. How about you? Did anyone apply for the fuld or woddruff scholarship? I know the deadline has passed already. @ Amay211 I heard that 130 applied, and 40 got accepted.
  12. .@silvrdove Emory accepted my psychology course that I took online. It is best you find out from them if they will accept Ap2 w lab online to be on safe sideBtw- I will be attending accepted students day. I found out from financial aid that it will take 2-3weekscare for us to get package! Uhhhhh! Anxious about it and the wait! I do have a back up though but Emory is my top choice
  13. Hi, I also got accepted as well. I applied for family nurse practitioner. I am anxious about financial aid though
  14. Hi all, I did apply to the Accelerated BSN/MSN program. I just got my admission letter Jan 19! I am so excited, I thought I wouldn't know until Feb1 maybe it is because I submitted my application before Dec 1 the priority deadline? oh well, I am waiting to see what kind of financial package I would get, I hope it will be an attractive one. Has anyone else been offered admission?
  15. @tribe12 woohoo I got my admission letter today! I got in. Excited. Waiting to hear from financial aid
  16. Ok got ya. I mean top rank schools are great but for me I have to get a major return in my investment. Unfortunately, in nursing profession, if you go to a top ranked sch or state sch, you get same job and salary. So to me there is no incentive, except I get a generous financial aid, I don't see the benefits. If you talk medical or law school, there is great benefits of going to top schools no doubt. My two cents lol.
  17. Wow. It appears you like the top schools! My main issue with top schools is the cost and I don't want to incur too much debt because salary is still same regardless of which nursing school you go to! I thought you have to have a degree to apply to accelerated program at Emory? Are you in atlanta?
  18. Tribe12, I can't wait to know as well. I got accepted at kennesaw state, am currently in my first semester there. But if I get accepted and get a good financial aid package, I will go to emory because I will get my msn which is a plus! How about you?
  19. Hello, Did anyone apply for the Accelerated BSN/MSN program at Emory that starts this summer? I think decision will be made in about 2 weeks.
  20. Does anyone know where I can take the required CPR training? I live in Smyrna/Mableton Cobb county area. Thanks
  21. @ayti the athens campus would be closer for me too, I might have to relocate too because I am not sure I can make the commute from atlanta to athens. But then I have family in atlanta :-(
  22. @sosola I used the official guide to GRE revised edition book and KAPLAN to prepare, it has a CD that you can use to practice the exam
  23. @sosola The GRE exam was fair for me, it is more so the timing, I just felt I was running out of time answering the questions. Will wait to see official results , i just hope I don't have to retake. The graduate that you know from the program, did she finish from MCG? Also is she do doing the masters in NP at MCG? I think I would go ahead and apply to MCG and decide when the time comes. Do you live in atlanta? I wish they could have a campus in the atlanta area, it would attract more applicants
  24. @sosola I am not sure which is more manageable between the MAT and GRE.I took the new GRE exam, waiting to get my actual results sometimes this month. I am not sure if I want to apply to the CNL program anymore though because it is a generalist degree not advance practice,in order words if you want to be a nurse practitioner or Nurse Anesthetist down the road, you have to get another MSN from scratch. Trying to make up my mind.
  25. Thanks @prom2009
