Anybody go to Keiser?
yep! i initially asked my managers at work but none of them were willing to help me out because i asked on numerous occasions, they are the type to just blow you off like "ugh i don't have time for that". So i told my friend who i have been working with for over 3 years and she didn't mind it at all so i went ahead because i NEEDED that last letter. But she is not the type to sit and write a professional letter. And yea all the letters included name number and relationship. And i really don't know if she read the letter because she just flipped through it in front of me but she might have took a deeper look after the interview.

lol haha yea i know right! But yes they had us make a portfolio, you don't have to put all that in there, ask them to show you a sample because they should have some to use as examples. The main things my advisor told me to include were the letters of recommendation and resume..i added the extras b/c i saw it in one of the example portfolios so i was trying to top that lol. Just put effort into it and make it look nice, i don't think the portfolio will make or break you b/c i saw her just flip through it during the interview (after i made it all pretty). oh and i had one written from a good friend/co-worker, my anatomy teacher, and my aunt who is a nurse already. idk why they want 3 but it shouldn't be hard finding people who will help you out. And the one from my friend co-worker was actually written by me...she was taking too long but she knows i wrote a letter for myself from her lol and of course i made myself look oh so good! And yes C for continuing lol! My professor tells us we are good with a C because one letter doesn't determine our ability to be good nurses

Hey Orlandoch! you are very welcome. I had a lot of questions during this process also. In my prereqs my gpa was only a 3.2 since their requirements were just a tad bit different, they did not look at my gen. psychology or lifespan grades which i got A's in both so my gpa dropped. But keiser on the other hand looked at both of those grades which brought me up to a 3.5. In the nursing program they told me we have to maintain a 2.5...But the prereqs should weigh out to at least a 3.0.. You seem to have good grades already so the gpa shouldn't be a problem just keep making those A's because that C most likely wont hurt you in the end. And about the english credits, thats a good question because i took 1 & 2 but 2 wasn't required for me at hcc i just took it so it will be out of the way when i go for a higher degree. Im thinking they would just take one of the two and pick the better grade..it makes more sense b/c they only look for 3 english credits. Oh and about the interview....I was SUPER nervous but it was nothing like i thought! The director of nursing was very nice and made me feel comfortable...she wanted to know my goals and if i was ready to put in the effort...she didn't even keep me long. It was a breeze! The only thing i had to do was put together a portfolio for her to look at (which she kept by the way). I included a letter of intent, a resume, unofficial transcripts, high school diploma, and 3 letters of recommendation...thats about all i had since i don't have any experience but she liked it. But if you have anymore questions ill be more than happy to help as much as possible

Yea you have it right... But i took the wonderlic back in 2008 which i passed with a good enough score to even be considered when i was fresh out of high school and there was no application fees due at that time (so i guess my wonderlic score from back then was still good to use)...so when i was ready to apply to the program after taking my prereqs at hcc i went back to apply and the application fees came to a total of $250 for the school and the nursing program together, then i took the teas which is free for the first time..if you have to retake any of the sections it's $25 per section. I passed the teas, then got set up for an interview and they called me that same day and told me i got in. And you don't necessarily have to wait to get accepted to do your fafsa, you can just fill it out and put in the school code or codes if you are considering different schools. in my case i had filled it out last year for 2010/2011 because i was still at my other school taking classes...keiser just went in and switched the school code for me and transferred my info. And that list you have of the courses is correct...i was told students need to maintain a 3.0 gpa to keep their spot in the nursing program to avoid losing their seat...if u happen to make a C or something it wont hurt you just make sure you have enough A's and B's in all classes on that list to weigh your gpa at 3.0 anything below a C needs to be repeated....i didnt take my gen. ed's there so i can't go into detail, that is just what they have told me. That's the order i went through the process in.

I only qualified for $3,000 worth of financial aid, after that my financial aid advisor walked me through the loan process. I did not do it all by myself (i probably would have screwed myself up trying to do it alone). I sat in his office and did the applications. I think they work with sallie mae but the company I went through is called Richland. The first loan they had me apply for required a cosigner which i don't have. Then they had me apply for richland which is one of those companies that are a little more lenient and i got approved without a cosigner. So i ended up with $3000 that I don't have to repay and the rest is loans. Whenever i need a new book or something i just put it on my student account and it will be covered by whatever source of funding you have.

Questions are good! After you get accepted to the University then you will take the teas test and that will be the last entrance test. Financial aid/pell alone will not cover your tuition, if you qualify for financial aid you will still have to take out loans or something (however you choose to cover your tuition) and it is cheaper to take your prerequisites somewhere else...that is what i did.

Hi! I am actually in the program right now (Lakeland)..as of Monday may 2, 2011 and so far I like it. We got right into the material on Tuesday since we spent all day monday on OSHA and CPR. Our Fundamentals instructor is great and we are getting a lot of practice in already (on each other) lol. But if you have any questions i'll be happy to assist you where I can.

People have said a lot of bad things about the school but I don't have time to wait plus they are not waisting any time getting us started....I received my dosage calculations book at orientation and have already started going through it! I just want to be the best nurse I can be wit a good education...and i hear our local hospital hires a lot of our graduates.

TEAS VERSION 4.0
science 80% Reading 92.5% English 85.5% Math 85% The questions weren't directly out of the study guide but if you just study the basics you can better understand what the question is asking. Personally, all the version 4 study guide is good for (to me) is the hydrolic cycle, rock formation, and tectonic plates. The McGraw Hill book taught me everything else about basic science. The other sections aren't that bad, just study the subjects you feel like you're week in. You will do fine!

Teas Test Skills Tips Please
Thankyou soooo much! Fortunately I took all my prerequisites at my current school, so WHEN I get in i'll just be waiting to start core, unless they don't take my humanities course credits, then i'll have to take something Keiser considers humanities but thats it, everything else is done! Im just hoping everything goes well I've been studying like crazy!!!!! But thanks again, I feel a lot better!:)

TEAS VERSION 4.0
Don't quit!!!! I took the teas a couple weeks ago and I have to go back and retake it this saturday....i failed the science but now I have McGraw Hill nursing entrance exams book and it is very helpful! I study from it daily and i feel like im understanding it better than before when i was just using the ati 3/4 study guide. The McGraw Hill book breaks down science concepts very simply. The test is not all that bad overall but the science part is a pain! I say just study study study and do your best, take your time b/c you have plenty for the science section. Hopefully saturday will be my last attempt...I wont give up, but I also dont want to pay to take the test anymore. Wish me luck!!!

Keiser University as of June 2010 reviews
Does anyone know how often students get bumped up to sooner starts at keiser? And also is it hard to get into the program? I'm referring to the Lakeland campus. I will be taking the teas in Nov. to apply for spring 2012 but thats a long time from now! I was wondering if it was even possible to get bumped to fall 2011. thanks in advance for any responses!!!!
