  1. Hey guys! So Im in the 4th day of nursing school. I'm in a private college so it's a pretty fast phased class. Anyway, everything is going well except for a few things. It seems to me and other students as well that the staff are only coming in intoducing themselves and throwing in chapters for us to do. I mean I know that how it should be but I think they could have a better structure. Were on our 4th day and we have no schedule what so ever we just kind of come in and see how things go for the day. Anyway, what I really wanted advice on is the medical terminology class. We found out yesterday that we have a "teacher" but she's not going to "teach" us. She ls basically coming in once a week tell us what chapters to do and it's our responsibility to learn everything before a test. Which I find difficult. So I was wondering how do you guys memorize so many terminology? I I've made flash cards but it doesn't seem to stick to me. Help! Thanks in advance!
  2. Carrington in the Bay Area. Are you in CA?
  3. Thank you all! @angiebear - awesome! What school are you attending?
  4. @christine2009 - thank you so much for the advice! I appreciate it And I'm very excited for this new journey. How long is your program? How you done clinicals yet?
  5. Hey fellow students. I start the Lvn program on Monday and very stoked! Any last minute advice would be much appreciated. What should I expect? And for anyone currently in Lvn program, how's the class so far? Thank you! :-)
  6. @collegegirl209 - yeah I have to drive Monday - Thursday. But it'll be worth it trust me. And yes they have one in sacramento but the one in San leandro is actually closer! The onenin Sacramento is way up north! Where you here in Modesto?
  7. Hey collegegirl209 I'm located in Modesto also and I'm starting school on the 27th in Carrigton College California. Check them out! They're located in San Leandro by Hayward. They have one in Stockton but I've heard bad things and they do not offer Lvn. Ps. Glad to see someone here that's around my area. :-)
  8. Hello As far as i know almost every school does require a test before getting accepted in school. I dont know exactly what you're gonna be taking it all depends with the school. As for me i had to take the cPAT exam and also Hesi A2 exam. But i say just tough it out. I'm not big on test either. I actually failed the first time i took the cPAT but i studied right when i got home and passed it the next day. The Hesi A2 exam is a longer exam (4 hours) is the time they give you. For example, it only took me 1 and a half hour to finish the test. They tell you which study guide to buy. I had the Evolve Reach for the Hesi A2 exam. Studied it for a week and was soooooo nervous and worried. But thank God, i passed with flying colors! Hope this helps. and Goodluck!
  9. Ah, wished I saw this thread earlier lol Hello fellow students! I'm starting in September 27th for a 16 month LVN program at CCC in San Leandro, CA. Very excited. I bet you all are happy that hesi a2 exam was over with eh? lol :)
  10. ...any Western Career College/Carrington College Hayward, CA students here?

  12. @selene That's awesome! I'm really excited for school and can't wait to start this new journey. I'm based in California and hopefully i can find a job in a hospital later on. But i do want to experience Nursing Homes. I plan to take the bride to RN later on in the future. Thats my ultimate goal. :)
  13. @Selene Thank you for the input. Do you work at a hospital or a nursing home? Ive read so much stuff about lpn'd not being able to get a job in the hospital.. Well anyway, goodluck with the BSN! I'm hoping to accomplish as much as you did one day! :)
  14. @Flawless - That's good that you have some experience under your belt. I've taken some classes in our local hospital and been working as a home manager in a Carehome Facity for 6 years. My whole family is also in the medical field so to be honest that's a lot of pressure on me. But I believe I can do it. I will have to drive 1 hour and 20 min everyday but I'm sure it'll be worth it! And for the person on top^ thank you! I want to be a regular on this Forum but it's so hard to have a Discussion with everyone here! lol
  15. Hey flawless! Yay! Congrats to us! Well what ie learned so far is that things sometimes doesn't make sense to us but If we spend the time to sit down and commit to learning then it will all make sense. Have you done any medical background? Job? School? Ps. How can you fail web your "flawless" haha
  16. Hi guys! I just got accepted into an LVN program in Hayward, CA. I will start school school next month. (September) And im just really excited and a little nervous i must say. If anyone has any advice for me before school starts, or what should i expect, and also if there's any LVN reading this, how do you like your job? My plan is to finish LVN and work to get some experience and then shoot for the LVN to RN bridge. I appreciate it guys!
  17. Hi there! I noticed there are some people in the forums that are still asking about the Hesi A2 exam. No worries, I was in the same position last week. My advice is to just study the study guide and you should do fine! I actually thought i over studied and worried about it so much that when i took the actual test, i didnt find it as hard as i though it would be. I was only required to take Math, Reading, and Vocab. I got a 96% in Math and an average of 80.4% in reading and vocab. I only needed a 72% to get in. This might sound cliche but the night before the test, sleep good. wake up early have breakfast and review a little more and you should do just fine! oh and try to study a lot of vocab the test i got had a lot of A&P words in it. but its not hard so dont panic! Goodluck!
  18. Hello! I recently just got accepted to attend an LPN program and it starts in the end of September. I am very excited! Though it will be an hour and twenty mintues drive everyday I'm ok with it and i see it as an adventure. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone have any advice they can give me about being an LPN. If there's any LPN here if you can tell me how's your experiences being an LPN and what are some of the jobs that you do as an LPN. I have pretty great idea of what an LPN does. But i just wanted to hear from someone who is currently an LPN. Thank you in advance!
  19. Hey Folks! Like I said I'd come back and report to you all. I ds my hesi a2 today and got an average of 80.4 with reading vocab and grammar. I found the grammar to be really hard! They had a bunch of anatomy vocals there so I suggest study on that. And I got a 96% in math. Needless to say I got in and I start class next month! Thank you all again! :)
  20. Hey guys! I studied a whole lot. And thank God for some reason today my mind just clicked and I now have 1 gallon - 4 quarts 1 gallon - 128 ounces etc all memorized. :) I also wrote down all the words from The practice test that I heard most likely will end up in the test and memorized All the definition. I don't want to say I'm confident and I got it down because I don't want to look pass any test. But I think I'm good to go. I will be taking it tomorrow at 1pm or should I say 1300 lol. The reading section I'm worried about a little. But I know if I take My time I can't miss it. The answer will be right in Front of me. Thank you guys so much for the advice. And I will come back tomorrow and post my results. Pray for great results for me! Thanks again! :)

Hello Fellow Students. I am new to this site and I am aware that there has been so many post about the Hesi A2 entrance exam. So I apologize in advance for starting a new thread. I will be taking the Hesi A2 exam this Friday. I have been studying all week. The cool thing is Only have to do Math, Vocab/Grammar, and Reading. I have to get at least 72% on math and and average of 72% on Vocab/Grammar and Reading combined. I have the Hesi admission assessment exam review edition 2 book and have been studying that. I'm pretty confident with my math skills the only thing that bothers me is the conversion with centimeters, inches, ounces, quarts etc. any advice on how i can help myself better with that? and also im not too worried about my reading and grammar. the vocab part im a little nervous about but im still studying for it. so any advice would help guys! thank you so much!
