I just need to talk about it.
I really don't think a matter of a few dollars or cents will make a difference, and I think if you are interviewing you have the right to ask how much the position pays. Interviewing is also for you, because the ultimate goal is to decide whether or not the position is the right fit for both parties. As long as you didn't appear as if your motive for wanting the job was money based, I would think you would be fine. I am in the same boat as you - had an interview on Friday for my first hospital position, and my first choice, might I add. I am under the impression that I have the job, like you, if the background check comes back clean. The waiting is terrible, but it is even more terrible when you are unsure of whether or not this will come back clean (see my post in Career) and what you are supposed to disclose and not disclose during the interview. Gray areas...hmmph. Best of luck & please keep us posted :)

Interviewing & Disclosure of Arrest?
Hello, Does anyone know the rules to what you are supposed to disclose during an interview as far as arrests for the Nurse Associate position (am a junior in school)? I was asked the question during an interview that is also standard on job applications, "Have you been convicted/found guilty/nolo contendre to a crime?" I said "no", but am wondering if this was the right response. I was arrested at a checkpoint over the summer for a DUI, but was not convicted at the hearing. I am on probation currently, and have gone to the required classes. My attorney told me that since I was not convicted, I do not need to disclose this information. I was not "charged" because it was my first and only offense of any kind. I am very embarrassed about it, but am worried that when the employer performs the background check my arrest will show up. Should I call the employer and speak with the HR person I interviewed with to clarify the intentions of her question in order to disclose this before it may display on the check, or should I stay still and see what happens? I am very concerned because this employer is my first choice and where I would like to remain in the future as an RN as well. Confused & worried!

Nurse extern interview
Ladycj, How did the externship go? Did you say you sent out 60 apps?? Was that for summer extern programs or positions as a patient tech/nurse associate?

Any Student nurse extern/internships in chicagoland/quad cities?
Yes, I also saw that St. Francis in Peoria is starting to take nurse externship applications. I don't think their formal process begins until the winter, but you can apply and they will send you a list of requirements. I am looking for specifically Chicago area, maybe U of Chi Med Center? I sent an email out them and the response I received said they don't do summer externships, but I am not sure I believe it! If you or anyone out there knows whether they do or not, and what other summer extern programs Chicago offers, that would be great. Are you in IL/IN or out of state? I would be coming from MO, and am looking for programs out of state. Any advice would be much appreciated!
