Where to go after the ICU?
I am looking to quit ICU and go into the Cath Lab as well. I have worked in ICU nights for the last 4 years, I am ready to leave. Any tips on how to make this transition easy?

Start a nursing career in Georgia
I just moved to Atlanta from California a month ago. I applied for a job at Wellstar and the pay rate offer is 23.95 with 5.00 differential for night shift. I have experience in tele....I almost pooped my pants. I was 47 an hour in California with time and half after first 8 hours. I will try Northside to see what their offer will be. The pay is really low, housing is cheap, gas cheap, but mostly everything else will run the same as California

Moving to Georgia, several questions
I am moving to Atlanta Georgia in July and would like to know what is the nurse patient ratio, hourly rate and some of the best hospitals to work. I am moving from California and know that things will be much different in Georgia with regards to hourly rate and nursing ratio. I have already bought a house in Mableton and would rather to work less than 20 miles away from home.

Los Angeles County College of Nursing & Allied Health Spring 2014 Applicants
To all those who got into County, I must say congratulations. To all those who did not get in, it is not the end of the road, just keep on trying at other schools. I graduated from County in May of this year and just landed a job (I must say it is very tough to get a job as ADN, everyone wants BSN). The County program is no walk in the park, but you can get through it... The clinical expectations are not for the weak, you don't have to be the brightest, but you must be willing to keep on trying. The clinical experience is really "SECOND TO NONE". All the best to you all!!!

Is LACC's Nursing Program GOOD?
Hi caffeineaddict, How is LACC? I got accepted to both LACC and County. I am not sure which one I should choose. LACC is closer and County has a good reputation...are graduates from LACC likely to get a job a Kaiser after graduation?

I called County just now, I was told the letters will go out the 1st week of May. Now I am dying because I will be out of town for that entire week. She asked my last name and I told her, she could tell me my first name, so I am hoping she was looking on the list and that's how she came up with the rest of my name....however I may be the only one with that last name...damn, I am dying slowly but surely.

To all LVN-RN prospective student out there: I was just contacted by Los Angeles City College, they are trying to put together a LVN-RN cohort for summer. This is a two semester course. They want to start the bridge program soon. I will be meeting with them tomorrow. I took most of my prereqs there and had spoken to them last year about interest in LVN to RN programme and had presented my transcripts. Please go there with copies of your transcripts, and they will take it from there. I would prefer to go to County, but at least I now have a choice.

One of the women who proctored the TEAS said that last year's cut off for LVN's was 78. They said the LVN's are usually lower than the generic.

Thanks for the advice Willowita. I will be talking to my employer and see how it goes...it seem like something may work out so I can go without working. I am keeping my fingers cross that everything works out.
