  1. Juju102 posted a topic in LPN to RN
So, I am currently living in Georgia and working for the DOD as an LPN in the emergency room. I had plans of applying to the bridge program at Albany State/Darton now, for the semester that's beginning Fall of 2018. I completed all my prerequisites - this program would've have been fantastic for me, because I work 12 hour shifts, 14 days per month and having to attend only ONE day of class per week would fit my schedule. Now, we receive word that we are to be moved to Virginia - surprise to us, because this should have been my husband's last duty station. I've been looking at the schools there and while I've found some bridge programs, so far I haven't found anything that's even remotely like the Albany State program - is there one? It's looking like I won't get lucky with my scheduling in VA either, as most jobs are Monday - Friday.. "stressed" doesn't even begin to explain how I am feeling. Selling a house that we only bought because we were sure we were staying here, finding work somewhere else and trying to find a bridge program whose prerequisites match what I've already got! Does anyone have any information that I haven't yet stumbled across? Thanks, juju
  2. Ugh, I posted and it got deleted! I already looked at USAjobs and Ft. Stewart was not hiring as of now, I'm hoping that changes by the time we are ready to go! I did see the school you mentioned, but I am more looking for an associate's bridge - thank you for the answer and info though!! ***** Edit! I just checked again and there are jobs there! Thanks again!
  3. Hello! We will be PCS-ing to Ft Stewart in October. I am currently an LPN in Missouri and I am in college here moving towards my associate's in registered nursing. I have several questions - First - How hard is it to get my license there? I have a compact license already, being in Missouri and I still have my NY license. I have heard some horror stories about the length of time it takes Ga to process applications and I'm wondering if I should (or could) start the application process now, from Missouri? Second - I've been looking at the colleges there and I do not see any LPN bridge programs, or even associate degree programs in nursing (I know that everyone wants a BSN nowadays, but I was going this route just to get my foot in the door) - can it be possible that there are no programs available there? I am in a bridge program now and would just like to continue on that route. Third - how hard is it for LPN's to find jobs there? I am not interested in home health and I do have experience - I work in an OB/GYN office here and I would love to continue to be a practice nurse, if that's possible in Georgia. Can anyone tell me the average rate of pay for LPN's in Georgia? Thanks so much! I promise I have been looking and investigating on my own, just looking for a little input!
  4. LOL! When I was doing clinicals, we were told to NEVER refer to it as the COW again! Apparently, someone was overheard by a patient saying something like "the COW in room 214.." and there was a bit of a problem. :-)
  5. Did your figure your philosophy out immediately? Did it evolve or change over time?
  6. Before I start school on the 6th, I have some assignments to tackle.. one of them being a one sentence nursing philosophy. Two things: 1- I have no idea! Is this just what I believe I want to do with my nursing career shoved into a one-liner?? 2- Since this is in my Geriatrics book, should I be tackling my philosophy from that angle? Has anyone here had any difficulty with this or am I just over thinking (as I tend to do -- often) Thank you!
  7. Hi there! My program runs from Sept to June and we start clinicals during the 7th week. From that point on, we have them at least twice per week and in March, we have them three times per week until graduation.:-)
