thank you David for your input. We have lots of chest pain ( including the fake ones.. lol) lacerations, seizures, I haven't seen any stab wounds or burns yet maybe it's because it's a minimum facility.

Hi All I was wondering do you need to have ER background in order to be a real good TTA nurse? I'm currently assigned to TTA. Seems like a lot of nurses there have ER background which I don't have. I feel somewhat incompetent and worry about my job performance. Any suggestions? Thanks

Lighmyway, I think you got it. Just relax and they will call you. Yes, I had to call them to follow up with HR to find out what's up cux I was way too anxious about it. Maybe like 3-4 days after I called them, they called me back and offered me a position. I think it's good to follow up, at least they won't " forget" about you ! :) good luck

I was just wondering does CA state prision still have OT for RNs? I known in the past, all RNs used to do many OT like crazy, due to the budget cut, do they still have that many OT nowadys? thanks

Hello All, I'm going to start at a prision very soon. I'm a little confused about the dress code. I thought it should be no solid blue, and orange. However, when I received the memo, it stated that " No solid black" on top of orange and blue....so I cannot wear my solid black pants??? Really? I mean I don't mind it, I just dont want to spend more money on my scrubs since all my bottom are solid black thanks

well. I've never got the inquiry letter from the prison where I had my interview. I just simply applied the position and waited for a long time to get a interview call from them.. Where are you at right now?

Hello everyone, I had an interview 2 weeks ago at one of the CA correctional facility. I know last week, they had called my current job for reference check, another week passed by, I still haven't heard anything back from them! Does anyone know how long will I hear them back after reference check? or maybe they are not going to hire me?? I'm really getting so anxious now, please help !!!!

dalgal, your interview was for RN or LVN? and how many percentage did you get when you finished your online self assessment? because i did my RN online assessment, and only got 85% and was wondering if i'm going to receive any inquire letter or not with 85%.. thanks :)

hello two sheds, after two weeks training, i really love it...i like hospital too, but after this, i dont wanna go back to hospital anymore. Since i got hired as lvn, so i have to pass meds at the window, but i dont want to forget bout my RN skills, so i volenteer to help out at triage room where i can observe how RNs do their work, how they take care of critically ill patient, thats a great experience.. and hopfully i will work my way up and get to that position and hired by state :)

Thanks you guys, I actually now is working at prison only for 2 weeks ( still at orientation stage) as LVN through registry, i hope this will give me a little advantage of getting into state prison as RN. And I just did online RN assessment test, I got 85%, alot of job assessment questions falls under LVN scope of practice and I've done it for so many times. I hope I will do a good job in prison, and they will give me a RN position :)

I know prision does hire new grad lvn, i've been lvn for 2 and half yrs, never been worked in prision, and recently just got my rn, i was wondering does CA prison hire new grad rn?? thanksss for your help

Took nclex this morning, tried pearson tricks, got good pop up. I was wondering when are we suppose to use trick? If we used tricks as.soon as we finished test, would the result b not accurate? Maybe should wait next day or couple days to try that tricks? Pls help... Thanks lots

Just took my nclex today, went on the pearson website and tried the trick, but for some reason, my webpage doesn't say cann't schedule another test or go to cc page. it only just said Your Board of Nursing does not participate in the Quick Results Service. and my statues says" deliver sucessful" why the trick doesn't work for me? am i failed? pls help, so anxious right now!!!!!!!!

I got hired through agency to work in vacaville state prision starting next wk. I'm gonna have my orientation for bout 4 to 5 wks. That's gonna b everday from 8 to 5. Soooooo...... Which means I have to give up my other jobs for this prision job. My questions are 1. Am I gonna get lots hrs to work in prision after I'm done with my orientation? Since I have to give up my other two part time jobs for this one. 2. If my work performance is good, am I gonna have a chance to get hired by vacavlle prision directly through state? Since my name is already in prision system, my rank is 2. This is a real hard decision to make , can anyone help me plssssss? I really.appreciated. Btw, my agency made it sound like they need lots lvns, and I can work many hrs..... Is.that true? Help me pls.....I'm really lost at this point!!!!!!!

I did my test and filled out my online correctional nursing application about 1 month ago, today I've received employment inquiry asking me if I'm still interested in this job, and request me to send out the form before the dead line if I do still want this job. I was wondering after I send out the form telling them that I'm still interested in becoming a correctional nurse, and what do I expect next then? are they going to schedule a interview? and how long it's gonna take to hear back from them again?
