What money, I feel we as nurses are grossly underpaid. I did choose nursing because I wanted to help people and I feel it's outrageous how little someone whom takes care of your loved one gets paid for it. We except entertainment as the top paying jobs. Crazy world we have.:angryfire

In my state, most hospitals expect the employees to wash their own scrubs and they allow them to wear them in to work. Certain places change it as needed. Like one hospital I did my clinical rotation in, who had us change into hospital scrubs when we got to work and change out of them at the end of work, and the hospital washed them.

The thing that stresses us most is there's always a great chance that someone will be frozen in. These nurses have to get there kids on the bus or relieve there husbands so they also can go to work. Then they are mandated and then there husbands have to call out of work. We are sometimes staffing another unit and not necessarily helping our own. It is unfair and they shouldn't be allowed to do it. What do you think. O we have a union and the more senior nurses say they have been fighting this battle for years. All the new nurses are mandated or floated so much they are now leaving. Help.

I can't believe that the facility is deciding what you wear at your pinning. I graduated from CCRI in RI and they let us decide to wear a white outfit of any kind. Most peolpe wore scrub tops but I bought a real nice white dress top, I didn't like the idea that they tried to tell us what to wear then. We were thinking of showing up in all dress clothes but the majority decided not to. Good luck in changing there minds. :rotfl: Thats what I'd like to do with people who try to take over our ceremony. Ahh! If you decide not to attend I'd understand because I almost didn't go either. This is in response to the nurse in wales who were hastening her patients death. She should be put to a quick death herself. I can't believe a nurse would do such a thing to a human being. tsktsk

Change your thoughts=change your life. What a wonderful concept. I am trying that now. What a difference it makes and I started when I became an RN. I love my profession.

Hi scrubs, I am 47 and recently finished my RN after being an LPN in a nursing home. If you want a big change go back to school and do the one additional year or so you need to be an RN. You will be happy with the additional nursing jobs available. You could always apply at Women and Infants Hospital, I love it there. :balloons: It's like Disney World there where everybody is happy (everywhere except the 4th floor, cancer patients, so sad).
