  1. I hope I get Adventist as well. I had Silver Cross last time and it was very nice but I'm only 5 minutes from Bolingbrook.
  2. I do have one more question. Can you describe the lab coat and scrubs? I really hope I can use my old stuff. My scrubs and lab coat are all maroon. Lab coat has the patch on it. Thanks!
  3. I need to figure out how much it cost too. Is it still considered 8 credits? 8x$103/per credit, plus fees? Plus books, ugh! I'm pretty sure I don't qualify for any financial aid this time around. Pell grant I miss you!
  4. So they stopped doing the lotto registration? Its doesn't really matter to me since i'm evening program but it does seem off that there is no chance of getting an option anymore. Thanks for the info!
  5. I've taken the test twice now, old version and the newer one. The first time I took it I didn't get a score like that. It might be something new because the version V gave me an "advanced" label.
  6. oop!! total class>>mon, tues, thurs, friday. wednesday was off for me. didn't mean to confuse you. all the times are correct on my previous most just typing too fast and got my days wrong. red=theory, blue=clinical. wow, i made that difficult. i'm tired already, lol.
  7. There was only one thing that I bought off the required list that I wish I hadn't. They had us buy a packet of drug cards instead of a drug book. It was to hard to keep organized. I ended up going out and buying drug book anyways. Other then that I pretty much used everything. Looks like my fundamentals book is outdated and has been replaced. Bummer, its the most expensive one. Amarie, your right about the classes. If its still the same then you only take 150 and then half way through the semester we will start the online pharmacology. The pharm class goes until half way through the next semester. Kind of weird. I found my old class schedule. I had theory mon & Tues 10-1150, then clinical topic (classroom lab)on tues 10-1150, clinicals (hospital) 8am-12pm. Before we started going to actual clinicals (2months in) we were in the classroom lab both tues and thurs. All coming back to me now, lol BUT, that was just one of the schedule options, so thats a good example but you can't really say until you register. Waiting until Nov 16th does stink
  8. Ok, even though it was only two years ago I can't seem to remember my schedule. I think to get over the shock of failing by three points I had to block out that semester of my life:lol2:. So here is what I remember but I could be wrong. Nursing 150 is your main lecture class. Everyone has to take it. Its always at the campus. I believe that it was every Mon and Fri. They had a 8am class and then one right after that at like 10am. The rest of your schedule is based on what section you register for. I think I went to class four days a week, two days with clinical teacher, two days with lecture. Clinical times depend on where you are at. When we were in the classroom, it was only like 8-12 or maybe even less. When we started working at the hospital it would be longer, maybe 630ish to 1pm. You also have to factor in research time. We would have to go to the hospital on our own the night before to research are patient, get info from their charts, etc. That way when we spoke with the instructor we had an idea of what we needed to do for the patient that day. If you are not a cna you do have to take nursing 140 but it is only for part of the semester. Once you pass the final for that class you don't have to do anything else extra. You really can't tell what your schedule is going to be until we register. You can choose your 1,2&3 choices when they send our our packet but if you get a bad lottery number your choices might be filled up by the time its your turn. I actually got to go first last time:) Your clinical times, hospital assignment, clinical teacher and whether or not you have the early or later lecture class will all be assigned at registration. Its frustrating not to know our schedule but I think it is fair the way they do it. I heard its the same for every semester. I had to talk to my boss yesterday before I told anyone else. He knew I had applied but I think he was hoping I didn't get in:lol2: I don't plan on quitting, can't afford to, but I will need extra flexibility from him. He has given me his blessing so i'm hoping I will be able to maintain the motivation to get through this and the following three semesters.
  9. B&G, I only got a 74% overall on the test. But I did get 95% on the reading portion. Reading is 25% of the points you get while overall score is only like 20%. I think that is why it is so hard to compare person to person, too many factors. I have no idea about the scrubs. It would not make sense to wear street clothes with a lab jacket. Can't see the hospitals or nursing homes allowing that. Maybe they meant you have to buy the scrub jacket from Life Uniform but you can get the scrubs from anywhere?? Guess we will see. Anyone tried to see if the bookstore lists the books we need? I think I'm going to look now. I also need to get a recorder for class. I guess I should check to make sure they still allow them.
  10. Its a lottery system. Everyone picks a number. Lowest number gets the first choice for which section you want. Its goes from there until everyone has their class assignment. We should be getting a packet in the next few weeks with the classes and other requirement (physical, drug test, etc) That how it was back in fall of 08 anyways. I'm sure some things have changed since I was last there.
  11. I know, I wish they gave us that information in our letters. I guess we don't really need to know but I'm curious also. Congrats! No one else in the evening program huh?
  12. I believe they accept 60 day and 22 night. Something like that
  13. Congrats to both of you:yeah:
  14. Emails just went out!! I got in to the evening program!!!!! I am super excited to have the opportunity to do this again. Anyone else check their email yet??
  15. I took the TEAS V test today. Now I just have to wait until they send out the letters. So happy that is over with. I got a 74.7% over all. Did very well on the reading, average on math and grammar, and bombed the science. Not as high as I'd like but i'm happy anyways. Fingers crossed!

Congrats Flutterbye. I have until friday, can't wait to be done.
  17. I don't think its unrealistic to get in the first time. Like I said, this will be the second time around and the first time I did get in from my first try. I waited until I had everything to apply though, which it looks like you did too (you don't get any extra points for Micro anyway). I know some people try to get in with just a few classes done and get disappointed when they don't get it. Its a really competitive program. I'm with you about math. I need to just do a week of refreshing before hand. I'm lost on science. I didn't do so well in science the last time I took it and that was the older version. I'm freaked about the opinion that the new one harder. I didn't study at all last time though so I'm hoping for an improvement :)
  18. HI Flutterbye! I'm studying as well. What prereqs have you taken? Is this your first time applying? I'm hoping we get the email this week too. I work better when I know what my time line looks like.
  19. Only one as well. ADN program at Joliet Junior College. At one point I had looked into a private university but the cost was too much. I have to stay local because of kids and work so my choices are limited.
  20. Oh forgot to add... Yes they have an evening program. However, they only accept 20 something students a semester for it. Not that the 60 something they accept for the day is a lot either.
  21. Thanks! From what I heard they don't accept anyone out of district. I know they use to say residents had priority so either way it would be tough.
  22. I posted a while ago in the Illinois section. No reply so I thought I'd see if it was just because its just not an active area or if there is no one on here from JJC. So anyway, anyone put in their application during the Aug 1st-15th open application? I applied for the night program and am currently waiting for an email saying they have accepted my application and when the TEAS test dates are. I'd love to meet some other JJC students. If we get into the program we can set up study groups. By the way I've been through the first semester (long story, don't want to repeat what I've already posted here). I can share my experience. If no one applies I'll assume the new applicants haven't found this great site yet:D
  23. I agree with the advise above. 2.6 would probably stop you from moving forward into a nursing program. Redoing A&P and micro would help a lot. Get better grades in those and see where you are after that.
  24. Wow, she literally laughed at you? Really it depends on what your school policy is. My school doesn't go by overall GPA (thank goodness!) but by the GPA of the program's prereqs. If you have all As in your sciences there is a good chance your prereq GPA is higher then 3.1. Also, did you talk to a nursing adviser or a general school adviser? At my school the general adviser are known for giving false info. Its the nursing advisers that know what they are looking for. Good luck!
  25. Been wondering the same thing. I bought my book at barnes and nobles for a little bit cheaper then the ATI website but it was still expensive. I'm leaning towards not taking the practice tests. It cost 30 to take the test at my school so that's an addition cost as well. Crazy that the practice tests cost more then the actual test.
