  1. I personally wouldn't take an 8 week A&P class. I'm about to finish up A&P I online and it is a lot to learn even as a full term course. ETA: and I wouldn't take both at once either way. Wowza. I admire those who can and come out with a good score, though.
  2. I am a Summer hopeful!!! :) I have a degree already so I have to take AP 1 & 2, Microbiology and Chem before applying. I'm currently in AP I online and registered for Chem and AP2 online for the fall and taking Micro in the spring but I might switch things up and take a hybrid AP2 in the Spring with Micro. I am considering switching things around because I am due to give birth late August/early September and cannot imagine juggling a newborn and another online AP class! Eeek!
  3. I am most interested in pediatrics, although I will be happy and willing to work in L&D or OB. I don't want to work in critical care or the ER.
  4. My stepmom is the one I am writing about. She is an RN and I'm sure she is very good at what she does, but even when her own HUSBAND was talking about going into the medical field she shot him down, saying that they only had enough money for one of them to go to school and she enrolled in (and later dropped out) of classes for her BSN. I don't get why she doesn't want other people in her life to have successful careers. HER daughter wants to be a nurse, and she is supportive of that to the extent where she's going to pay for it.
  5. I have a "relation" like that, as well. She has been a nurse for almost 20 years and has always discouraged me from entering into nursing school or even taking pre-reqs, telling me that it would be too hard and I wouldn't like it anyway...etc. I let her get to me and held off on taking A&P for 2 years! I've already gotten 1 degree since then! If I would have just done what I wanted to then I would already be a nurse and employed by now, and I kick myself in the ass for it regularly. Anyway, finally I just signed up for the classes and haven't told her or any of my family other than my fiancé that I plan to go into nursing school because I don't need anyone holding me back or trying to tear me down. Good luck to you!
  6. Hello, everyone. I posted this in the pre-nursing section but thought maybe people IN the nursing program would be better suited to help me with this. :) I decided to enter the medical profession and am either going into nursing or radiography, but the more research I do into the professions, the more I think I would like to be a nurse. I already have an A.A. and I am taking AP I online. To enter the nursing program at my school I need to complete this class, A&P 2, and Microbiology as I've already taken the other pre-reqs and I have a high GPA. I am doing quite well in the class so far where grades are concerned I have a 99 (I haven't taken the proctored midterm or final yet, so that will more than likely go down), however I don't feel like I am really learning (read: retaining) anything. Even so, I'm sure I will pass. I am afraid to enter the nursing program and then do terribly because I don't remember anything from this class. I'm also afraid that maybe I am second guessing myself. Should I take the class again in person? I am due to have a baby in Sept and am registered for the online A&P 2 for the fall but think I am going to try to get it hybrid instead. Any advice would help.
  7. I did the same thing when I started school, but only at the same college. I retook classes for grade forgiveness, you should talk to a counselor about that and see if there is a way you can do it.
