  1. Thanku puppyluv for the support. I will be going in tonight. HOPEFUL! I am trying to keep a positive attitude but as u can see it gets the best of me sometimes. I am glad to see someone who came from where I am to where they want to be!
  2. I am a new grad and after a yr of searching for a job...I finally got one....at a retirement home...which is not where I had wanted to be...I always wanted to work in OB....So ending up herre is a big disappointment to say the least....The stress that has come over me since I began working at the nsg home is unimaginable and with my case of OCD it makes me 10x as slow as the other nurses....I look back at those 3 yrs olf school and wish to God I could go back...and just fail and have to do something else....bc I can honestly say.....nsg is not what I expected or what I want......unfortunately with those 3 yrs of student loans to pay off I feel trapped beyond help...I just don't know what to do...but I dread going to work every single day...my days off are not my days off anymore...they are the count down to when I go back in.... I do feel better that other new grads feel the same!
  3. This is an old article but I am hoping to get some information! A co-worker changed her name several years ago after a divorce and didn't notify the board of nursing of the name change. She wants to make it right and send in all the documentation etc. but is afraid this may affect her license etc. Does anyone know if there is any disciplinary action if she does contact them and outside the 30 days time they give for a name change? Thanks Rachael
  4. I know in my first yr of nursing school we had probably 6 or fail b/c they were taking to many classes. It just depends on you stamina, mostly the people who failed were taking A+P w/ the nursing classes. Also, I think it depends on what nursing classes you will be taking. Most people failed because we had so many clinical hrs and one of the hospitals required we be there by 5 am making it so we had to leave around 415 in the morning! So, ask around see what some of the second level nursing student say! They are usually always willing to give advice, and if it was too hard for them I guarantee they will let you know! :) Good luck!
  5. I studied for about 2 wks before the exam...hardly left my room, and left my house, maybe twice! I was sooo nervous! I actually took this great class by a man named Mark Klimek PHD RN 36 yrs!. During my preceptorship all I heard from the nurses was that they had taken him and had 75 ?'s and passed! So, I couldn't resist and scheduled him to come to our school. Everyone who has taken the NCLEX- RN and took his class has passed at 75 ?'s. He travels out of state and is a Prof at Cedarville U in Cedarville,OH. He used to write for boards! He narrows everything down into one little blue book( about 175 pgs, dble spacing) There wasn't one question on that exam that I hadn't read about in his book (that is the ONLY book I studied!), or I hadn't been taught it during his class! 5 people including myself took boards right after the class and ALL passed, at 75 I think and the other 10 are scheduled to take their boards. I am telling you this guy should be published world wide. He has all kinds of tricks to remember things. I know personally I had trouble remembering the s/s of electrolytes I would get them confused b/c there are SO many hypo/hyper and now I can safely say I know the s/s. He is a miracle maker, and he is SUPER nice! Also, he forewarned us that infection control was a big subject and then prioritizing.....he gave us ways to narrow them down in such a way we couldn't miss the priority ?'s! And I was never any good at those! Good luck, and don't give up! Just don't cram your brain! You got through school you know the material concentrate on ?'s! Also, I used Saunders and Kaplan and NCLEX-4000 and did random ?'s all the time prob did around 1500-2000, reading the explanations did HELP! I hope this helps!
