  1. Rehab is no less intense than most other types of nursing. At my facility we have a higher ratio than other units. None of the patients are able to ambulate themselves to the bathroom, or even move from the chair to the bed on their own, as they can on other units. Many need extra help due to the circumstances that brought them to rehab. CMS quidelines are very strict on criteria for admission to IPR. Patients are sicker than ever before. I compare my unit to a typical med/surg unit with the addition of working with and around therapies.
  2. I believe I would feel insulted as well. It takes a special kind of person to be a labor & delivery nurse. It is something I have no desire to do, but what do I know...I'm just a floor nurse :)
  3. Dr. Tootla - Proctologist Dr. Root - Dentist
  4. Well that's really something to look forward to. LOL! My 1st semester of NS starts next month. I'm VERY excited, but also extremely nervous. I haven't handled emergency situations very well in the past and I sure hope I can overcome that. Hopefully some education and confidence will do the trick. Very good (and frightening) info here. Thanks karyan06 for starting thread!
  5. I got accepted for ADN at Wallace Community College in Dothan.
  6. I got mine, too! I didn't expect my heart to drop when I saw that big envelope in the mailbox! YAY! See you July 8!
  7. Hi all! I applied for ADN at Wallace CC. Does anyone know how long after the deadline they typically send out letters? It's only been 3 weeks but I'm getting a little anxious . We moved here from Michigan last year. I was going to school there, but before you could apply to the nursing program you had to complete A&P, micro, and all other prereqs. Once in the program you only took NUR classes. So anyhow I have completed most of the classes and I guess I get points for those. I think it's looking pretty good, but YOU NEVER KNOW! AAGH. I hate waiting. I wish everyone luck and can't wait to get started and make new friends
