I know about "gut" feelings and agree that it is a personal experience. I ALWAYS do a "self check" first and go from that point. Thinking it through or talking it out with someone who I trust!

Appearance does matters! By that I do not mean the color of your skin or whether you cover your head. A Professional Nurse is neat, clean, and conducts oneself in a manner in which she or he wants to be treated. Just because someone walks past you in the hall or anywhere else and doesn't address you personally is NOT important. Things in life are NOT all about you. Maybe that is the problem here! Consider it!!!!!

This is not about the perfect "RN Hospital USA" which you would think is kind, compassionate and caring. This is "real life". Ego-centric, power and control with other Nurses including students.

This distructive and hurtful behavior is about "power" and "control".

Babylady, I truly appreciate your response. I hear you and can absolutely identify with where you are coming from. I call it "Dumb as a Fox." I never in my life kissed so much "rear end" in my life. The Professor also my Clinical Instructor lied during the Appeal Hearing. The Dean of Allied Health, after the Hearing, telephoned each of my clinical colleagues to see if what I said about the Clinical Professor was truthful or not and all the students told the truth as I had said. That doesn't seem to make a difference with this program or the so- called "Professionals." (I do believe in Karma but that doesn't help me at this moment in time.) RN Program Staff dishonesty, inconsistencies with some groups not having to chart on their Clinical Day while I was struggling with a new hospital instituted computer system doesn't matter. Our particular group had to chart. Errors in their class withdrawal policy didn't seem to be a problem to the VP of Academic Affairs. Black and White statements in the "Student Handbook." Integrity, respect, and honor is out of the window! This Academia all sticks together no matter what. They are literally "Thick as thiefs." I would like to see one of them pulled out of RN Program or whatever Program that they put five years of hard work, time, committment , heart, soul and money and then be dismissed with two weeks remaining. It smells "fishy" to me. And, it has me so upset that I do not want to leave my house.

Looking for suggestions on how to deal with this. I want to complete the RN Program that dismissed from me in the last two weeks. This situation began, believe it or not, when I ruffled the feathers of the Director of Nursing when I challenged out of a class through Excelsior College, which LPN's are allowed to do. Of which I am. The Director of Nursing was furious and when I notified her she asked me why I didn't ask her for permission to challange the exam and my life in RN Program took a down hill decline as a result.The Student Policy Book did not say that I had to ask for permission. She asked me "if I felt competent"? I currently have a 3.11 GPA and a class grade of 82 when they dismissed me. Why would they wait until two weeks until the program completion to find me unsafe and inconsistent? Would you think that they would have found me unsafe earlier in the program? I just do not know where to go from here. I took the Appeal as far as I could at the College. I was counting on working after graduation and helping my family financially. I am 67 years old. Maybe that has something to do with their decision! The college academia stick together and back each other up. They have all of these so called Services in place to help students and then when a student needs unbiased assistance I was "alone"!! And,their lives go on unnaffected. The RN classes are non-transferrable and have cost me mentally, physically, spiritually, psychology and monetarily. Very unjust!!! Any ideas??

It is February 4, 2011. Do you know of any RN student who has experienced "Lateral Violance" or have known of any student dismissed while having two weeks remaining until completion of the RN Program? And, what if anything did you/they do about it? Thank you.
