thanks for letting me know no letters today... so I won't rush home to stalk the mail. This is very aggravating! I got that email on 08/2/11 and he said they were gonna be mailed out in a "couple of days". I would like to know what he deems a couple b/c its the 18th for goodness sake! from past posts I would assume this week or next week at the latest unless b/c of this economy crap they have put something on hold ( which will suck)!!!! thanks for letting me vent:)

goingcrazy- all of my dates on my loans were changed but $40,000 were not counted if my "unofficial email" numbers are correct. So I am really curious to see what did not count because all those loans were for nursing education...not even prerequistes but actual education.. I had a dream the mail came on 8/16... maybe today is the day. I will be happy to put this behind me. It is very nerve wracking! Although I try just not to think about it and then stalk my email in the afternoons. I am very grateful to have this blog to read everyday.. makes the time go by a tad faster. good luck to all of you still waiting!

Mhazle- I think from what I have read from past posts and been told by people who received the loans. You can apply the monthly amount any way you see fit as long as the loans are qualified under the contract. I have also been told to keep meticulious records regarding payment so when it comes to applying for the 3 rd year or if you get audited you have CYA. I hope this helps! I too have a ton of private loans with insane interest rates. I would like to get those paid off post haste! sully

short suzy- i am just as confused as you:) I think in the past people were burned from not taking out enough taxes and now maybe they have decided to do it for us... or we get hit twice. I am not sure. I think what my friend was warning me about was just being in a higher tax bracket...b/c it doubled her original salary. I guess I won't really know until I go through it myself. And NN thanks and congrads to you as well. This is our first and we are pretty excited! lots of exciting things happening these days... Now if only this blasted hot weather in texas would go away all would be right with the world. praying for a letter in the mail today! thank you Jesus... AMEN!

you know amy I am not sure if I have to configure the loans to pay. I think you can pay as little or as much to any qualifying loan as long as you keep your receipts to show you are paying towards the loans specified in the agreement. My husband and I plan to pay towards the highest interest rates 1st. We deferred a lot of my loans for the next year and I think I have like 2 more years for deferrment so I will be able to apply the amount to those pesky higher interest loans and worry about the others later. The only concern I have at this point besides if I actually got it, is I am 5 months preggos. I read somewhere that you only get 7 weeks off before you have to suspend your loans. I guess once its official I need to contact someone b/c I plan on being off for at least 8 weeks. I also have a friend that was awarded last year and she became prego while waiting for confirmation so maybe I should just talk to her. I know she did tell me it throws you into a way higher tax bracket when it comes time to pay taxes. she said it almost doubled her income. She suggested I put a little back on each pay ck to cover if we owe any extra. as for how much taxes did they take out... I think the amount they agreed to pay was like $87000 and that put 60% somewhere around $55,000 and after taxes (wait for it) like 36999 is gonna be applied for the 1st 2 years. I mean it still puts me at right at $1500 a month and since half my loans are in default we will be able to double up on payments to those higher interest loans but I was a little surprised when I saw it. I had read other blogs in the past years but noone had actually put a dollar amount. forgive me readers if I am being crass for sharing my business but I know that I would have liked to know more specifics so there you go:) If I did get it I will be so HAPPY! What a financial blessing this would be:) thanks for letting me share!

amybard-I was assuming the loans were qualified; however obviously some did not. I am waiting patiently or not so patiently for the actual document to see which ones did not qualify b/c I will need to know which I apply the $ to. I was a little disappointed; however like my husband said... the amount every month is like $1500.00 and he said "hey that is money we don't have to pay for 2 years possibly 3 don't complain. once it was put in that perspective I remembered how big a blessing this is:) tess- I thought a couple a days meant like 2-4 days... but the email was on 8/2 and I am still waiting for an actual mail document so who knows??? I want to get excited but I just really can't until I have the actual document in hand. sully

NELRP 2011
Hi everyone, I have been following this blog for awhile but have never replied before. I took the advice and lead from some of the other nurses on here. I received an email on 7/14 with the contract, banking info and notice of still wanting the loan. I am on the Gold team @ 208% from texas. Anyway, as I was saying I decided to do what others had done and respond to the original email sent from Gold team. I decided this b/c 1. I had not checked my email in several days and was late in seeing I had received an email and 2. when my husband faxed over the 3 documents he did not put my ATT person on the fax. ( could have killed him). So I sent an email basically saying hey... am I disqualified for faxing my stuff in 3 days late and also did you actually receive it? I got a response almost immediately from a Richard C. who stated that yes the information had been received and went on to tell me I was already awarded and would be receiving a contract in a "couple of days", he said to keep me from the suspense he would tell me my actual numbers. I was so excited. He did stipulate that this was unofficial; however it was a great relief. Then every day I have waited for the mail and it has not come I have wondered if maybe he got it wrong or just thought it would be funny to lie:) My crazy mind at work. One of the things I did realize however was that the total amount counted towards the 60% was about $40,000 short of what I actually put in. and then the taxes ate my lunch; however I feel so blessed to be receiving anything I can't complain. I just wanted to put this out there to all you. I know this feeling of waiting is stinky and I am so ready to be done with this! I do have a question? Can you apply for the repayment program more than once if you are actually awarded? I know that is a little ridiculous to ask but even with the money I could potentially receive for a 3 rd year obligation I will still probably be about 180% in debt when it all said and done. Sad isn't it. Thanks for reading my rant. Just thought I would share since so many nights this blog has been my only comfort! Also for those still waiting on an email, have heart! its not over yet! and remember even if your not awarded you can always try next year. I had a friend that applied 2 years in a row and finally got the much wanted email. sully

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
I would like to say to all the non believers that YES the pearson VUE trick worked for me!!!! I left the testing center feeling as if I would have to take the dreaded test again after getting all 265 questions. I came home desperate for information on all kinds of things like getting that many questions and passing and things like when could I find out my results. I ran into this threaded discussion and it is the only thing that kept me sane in the last 48 hours. I went to the site and got the good message before I even knew what I was doing. I was just trying to register again cause I thought I had FAILED for sure. I waited the 48 hours and just found out that I PASSED!!!!! So keep the faith and know that GOD will be with you regardless of the outcome. I praise JESUS that I passed and really hate this long process of finding out the results. THank you to all of the threads they were a balm on my nerves throughout the process. KEEP your head up and I will see you in the workforce. A very grateful RN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
