  1. Dr. Martin was the best thing to happen in my life, just take the course no matter what the cost is! She's going to tell you things about that exam that I can't repeat ever but you will pass the test no prob. I took a couple courses and bought all the books on this stupid exam. The test is easy just understand how to use what you know, think, and remove that jibberish out of the question and ridiculous answers out of the question. Shes funny too, she call you a, "dumb dumb" if you don't get questions right. She kept saying "omg what are these schools teaching you?" You'll do fine :)
  2. Yeah Doc. Martin was a blast! I took the exam feeling pretty much the same the first time i took it and, wow. The hardest questions they throw at you were a joke. Doc. Martin was the real deal. She used to write questions for NCLEX and people who still do so she is in the loop. She was talking about retiring when I took it almost 2yrs ago. GL with everything.
  3. Are there any books out there that specialize in the thinking process of the nclex? I'm taking Dr. Martins class in Chicago so that shoudl handle knowledge I hope, but I clearly don't think like a nurse lol! Its probably because I'm a guy....
  4. This makes a lot of sense to me actually. I spent maybe 2 1/2 hr on the first 75 and I think I was nailing them because I was getting the ridiculous long and tuff priority questions as well as delegating ones after 30. So I was set and didn't change my pace. Once it hit 76 I knew I was in for trouble. I also saw the same question or very similiar ones all the time! I saw an answer I liekd but thought this was a trick because I was for sure I answered it right last time so I wen't with the next best choice. I have another question too! Since this is my second time will the Nclex already know my weak areas and pick on those right from the bat or does it reset my background? I know I won't see the same question ever again for the rest of my life but I felt my questions consited a lot of select all that apply, medications, or some sort of therapeutic response. I'm plannig on taking it July 16 because thats the earliest I can take it again but it just freaks me out reading other blogs about people taking it their 3rd and 4th time and saying that they have been studying hard. Thanks for the reply it put me at ease a little more. If you have any other suggestions toss them this way!
  5. I took the test a while ago but got my results back today. It says I'm at the near the passing standard in every area. I don't think I have it left in me to study everything that is nursing again and if anyone has some tips or suggestions that would be awesome! I bought the Nclex-RN exam cram with simulated CAT Nclex CD. It keeps shutting of at 75 meaning I'm pretty close I guess to passing next time. The Ncsbn said to focus heavier on my areas below the passing standard. What should I focus heavy on or lighter on this time? I just wanna pass and get this crap behind me.
  6. Would you know what the difference is between Hurst and Dr. Martin? I just don't wan't to throw away a lot of money and not pass AGAIN!
  7. I failed at 265 actually. I would a couple questions that seemed similiar and tons of drugs along with who heck i should go see first. Im not sure how I want to approach the 2nd around now.
  8. I was thinking of taking this June. Just to make sure your talking nclex-rn right? I've taken the nclex once and didn't pass at 265
  9. I failed at 265, I used kaplan and now considering Martin. What was classes like with Dr. Martin?
  10. Awsome reply! when you took Nclex did it seem more heavy on drugs, priority, or precautions?
  11. I would totally agree with you! 24 and just graduated in MAY. I've never "met" so many new girls in a span of 2 years in comparison to all my college years I loved it haha. (18 was my tally)
  12. I just took it like 3 days ago and failed at 265! 3 of my friends passed at 265! I took Kaplan over the new format and learned sum cool things. First of all you should get a copy of the new outline. The exam is super super heavy on your drugs, deligating, and precautions w/ TB, diptheria, or rubella stuff like that. Study crazy for delegating and priority more than content if you feel thats why you failed.
  13. Hey there I have info on Kaplan you shoudl consider. I graduated Nursing school and they made us take Kaplan. I found out last week I did not pass at 265 but i felt as if I was close. The Live course doesn't really focus on content but more on how to break a question down. They provide a book filled with content but i couldn't read that thing it was just way to big. I did over 3,000 questions on their website and felt liek none of it reflected NCLEX. They have Kaplan test taking stragies more aimed on how to answer their questions I thought. I would not recommend Kaplan, personally because I'm a student who needs to grasp information all the way aroudn to get it.
