  1. So glad you posted this!! Been considering Certification and seems like i better GET SERIOUS and STUDY STUDY STUDY!!! CONGRATS, you're an inspiration!
  2. If you are adamant about not going back into those environments in which you would be settling, you could Temp at an agency that way you get to experience "other settings" and may even find your permanent position that way! I started in LTC,temped and did back to school immunizations at a Peds Clinic and learned 12lead EKG all while Temping. If your gut tells you not to settle then by allmeans don't. Congrats and the best of luck yo u!
  3. After 6 months at a nursing home I was offered a position in Peds at a teaching hospital,of course i took it!! Back then the difference in pay was only PENNIES...consider what u need to accomplish financially and career wise. Once you become an RN ANY hospital will have you. Best wishes!!!
  4. God I believe everyone has a story like this. When I started as a new grad at a LTC facility, there were 2 nurses to a floor. The other nurse was late she was young as well but had been an LPN since the age of 19. I took report from 1 nurse who had no help for the pm shift (3-11). This was a 64 bed unit that had 62 residents. I started rounds checking my clients on one side of the unit. The other nurse arrives and starts rounds on the other side only to find a client DEAD! Her gtube feeding infusing HOB elevated it appeared as if she was sleeping but her abdomen had like tripled in size and she was ice cold no pulse. LTC facilities have been always been short staffed and the lack of dedicated/motivated employees perpetuate this. I mean who knows the last time someone had checked on this poor lady. Please do your rounds. Arrive early to find out what's what. It would probably help to make a checklist of sorts.Everyone passes meds slow and feels overwhelmed in the beginning. Within 6 months of working at the LTC I got a position at a teaching hospital in the NICU and have been doing peds forever. I am very proud of you Nursing is very rewarding, just hang in there!:typing
  5. Medsport BSN stands for Bachelor of Science in Nursing so it's a no go on the bypass. I worked for an LPN who had a bacehlors in business she ran a home health company and had MDs and PhDs on her board. As far as state to state I'm not sure because ther person who administers meds at my daughters school is an EMT but maybe she work under the school nurse.
  6. My daughters school nurse is an EMT! But were in Indiana.
  7. I've gotten a lot of info from vitiligosupport.com
  8. I have heard of repigmentation on several occasions some total some partial I have read up on it extensively(they say hands and feet usually don't reassume their color with even with treatment) several websites mentioned chemical causes or environmental causes and named disinfectants and rubber gloves. It is an autoimmune disorder but I don't have a condition which "brought it on" no anemia,no lupus,no diabetes. It is forming in a bilateral pattern however. For now I'm focused on my deficiencies and giving my body what I know it needs before it spreads. Good luck!!! Thanks 4 your reply!!!
  9. Wondering if there are any nurses out there who have heard of disinfectants being the possible cause of vitiligo.I work in home care and use control III alot use gloves sometimes not all the time when preparing solution another website named gloves as the possible culprit.I found an excellent website and am now working to heal my condition naturally seeing that it's only a few small spots on my hands. Is there anyone who has it or knows someone,if so which treatments have been successful?Any info would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks in advance:) !!!
  10. Howdy, I reign from Chi-town!!!!:)
