  1. Trust me, I've taken all those courses and then some. If you run into the problem that I did where there's a long waitin' list. Take more classes to fulfill your bachelor's. That's what I'm doing.
  2. Well, for me I'm finishing up my bachelor pre-req's because there's a 14 month wait. Actually, as of today, it's only 5 month wait. For myself, the wait was good 'cause I need a lot of other bs classes and had to go through the loop holes. Right now, I'm taking Critical Thinking and next semester is Nursing Pharmacology which actually starts the nursing program for me except I won't be taking the actual Nursing Process classes until my start date, Valentine's 2006. Lucky me. Anyhow, much luck to all.
  3. I have to say, you're on the right path. Don't give up! If anything just think, would you rather be (however old you are) with a degree or without one? Obtaining a degree is a journey, but when it's complete, you will definately find satisfaction. You have a positive outlook on your futre. The hard part was probably "going back" which you did, so that tells me you're focused and you're heading in the right direction. Keep it up! It'll all pay off in the end.
  4. I finished my pre-req's last year in Spring for the associate's in nursing. Upon applying to the nursing program, it was to my dismay that I won't be getting in until 2006 Spring. It was heart wrenching due to the fact I just want to quit my retail job, but I'm still presistant. I'm now taking general education classes, Religious Studies, Child Development, Organic Chemistry, Critical Thinking along with Bio. Chemistry for my bachelor pre-req's. I go to Victorville Community College here in the high-desert. I must say, I have no intentions of leaving to attend another college right now due to the tuition fees along with the expense of a commute to another school. So here I am..................... waiting until Spring 06'. I definately know how you feel. (smilez)
  5. Well, I checked some local schools that offered an LVN program, but talking to many officials they all said that doing the LVN program was cool, but they seemed that it was a waste of time. I mean, cool, if you need to work while in the program, or if you just want the experience. For me, however, the experience will come later as I'm in the program because I think nothing can prepare you for the nursing program. CNA and LVN work to me is an avenue that I don't wanna take. I work at Anchor Blue currently and they pay me very well for really doing nothing other than ringing at a register. I'm just going to wait for another year (06, FEB.). As I said before, there's still pre-req's for my bachelor's that I can register for. I need like two more classes along with Bio. Chem. I'm seeing a counselor about all this tomorrow. .

  7. Hello There! Well, as you know, I mentioned that I got my acceptance letter and I have to way nearly 2 years as well. I start in Feb. 06' and we're not even in 2006 yet. I'm in HESPERIA, CALIFORNIA, and I applied at Victor Valley Community College here in CA. As far as a bachelor's program. I know for a fact that CSUSB, California State University San Bernardino is not accepting anymore applicants because my friend went down there last week and the reps. told her that. However, this year, FALL 04' they made a new prerequsite to get into that program (Bachelor's of Nursing) and it's Bio Chemistry. As far as another acredited program, we have here LOMA LINDA UNIVERSITY. I'm guessing and so is CSUSB because it's so backed up here in the INLAND EMPIRE and HIGH DESERT that they will be the next institution that will have a waiting list as well. It's ridiculous! I don't understand how my school, VVC gets a lot of money for funding, but it's for like other programs offered at the school, but the Nursing program is shunned upon. Hmm....too bad you weren't here where I am, because my school offeres a respirartory program for 1.5 years. That program is over shadowed by the nursing program and always has available room for new students in that particular program.
  8. :angryfire Hi there, I recently got my acceptance letter in the nursing program at Victor Valley College. I have to say, I wasn't happy! I don't start until Feb. 2006. I was not happy when I found out. Very depressed when friends called me and told me that they were starting earlier. Well, all I can do is wait.
  9. Thank you so much for your input on my question. I've been struggling with the thought of "what to do?" I've made my decision to start the VN program starting JUNE 16TH at Concorde Career Institute. Working in retail just doesn't pay enough for bills. So, I figure while going to school for the RN program, I can gain experience in the field. Competition is soooo stiff out here in So. California nursing, it's rediculous. Upon completion of Human Physiology this semester, I can only imagine the drama that will occur after the course is finished. Everyone in the class already is making enemies with each other because they want to get into the nursing program or someone taking their spot. I figured the VN program is an alternative to all of this. I will have a better chance getting into the bachelor's program opposed to somene that is not a VN already. Good thing is, I've completed all my prerequisites for bachelor's in nursing though. So, I think I'm just a step ahead. My concern was is that beneficial. I don't know. The VN's here make around 17-18.25. A girl in my class, Natasha, is actually the one that has persuaded me to join the VN program. She's a VN now here in So. California and just graduated as a VN in August 03'. She's enrolled into the bachelor's program starting in August 04' at a Cal. State college.
  10. I'm taking Human Physiology which is my last pre-requsite for the nursing program. In completion of this course, my decision is to attend Concorde Career Institute to become an L.V.N. After completing the L.V.N program, I will then enroll into a Bachelor's program for R.N. My question is.... what is some thoughts/ideas/personal outlooks on this??? I'm just really stumped at the moment because I work in retail, Anchor Blue, and it just seems to me that it would be beneficial to take a year off and go to school to become an L.V.N. and then enroll into a Bachelor's program for R.N. after a year but work as an L.V.N. while in the nursing program. Please, anyone help me. I'm currently in the hi-desert in California.
