  1. Never push Kaexolate through an NG tube without thinning it down with water or you will spray it all over the ceiling. I know, I did it and the janitor refused to clean it up because he said he didn't clean up poop. He wouldn't believe it was medication!hahahahaha:chuckle
  2. :chuckle Thank you for taking the time to respond. If I have any other questions I will certainly be back! Sincerely, Darinda
  3. I am not a dialysis nurse but would like some information regarding CVVHD and CCU's. Our CCU currently has an outside dialysis company performing our dialysis. We are looking into the purchase of our own machine so that we can perform our own CVVHD. The company we have gotten info from has agreed to all inservicing, nursing education, and support etc. but we are told that there are no other hospitals that perform their own CVVHD, that it is all done by an outside agency. Does anyone know of any other hospital that performs it's own CVVHD? Thanks for your time, Darinda RN:rolleyes:
  4. When I first went to CCU, I also had to have something to write my info down on and have it handy. I devised a worksheet of my own on "Word" with the info in the order that made sense to me. I quit using it quite awhile ago and now just use the back of the census sheet. I write all the info down and only refer back to it when I'm transferring a pt out of CCU or if I need to call a physician. The only REAL reason I write stuff down is because I'm one of those boneheads that remember better when I've written it down. I may not refer back to that paper the rest of my shift. Darinda

  6. Hi! I have thought of that very question when I'm hanging multiple drips, monitoring multiple lines, assisting a physician with procedures, etc.... and to think that my mechanic makes more than I do. Wheres the justice? You do it because it's in your blood and you can't think of anything else you'd rather do. (except some days when I'd like to be asking if they would like to super-size their order!)
