  1. can you tell me what your med A census runs on average? we have three of us in a 200 bed facility, two doing medicare and one doing med A. we are running ragged!!
  2. thanks much for you quick response. will contact you about that document! THANKS AGAIN!!
  3. Hey where did you get this info? I have been trying to get my administrator/owner to follow this plan. They keep trying to tell me it does not matter what order you follow. Anyone can fill out their sections at any time,so nursing/MDS can go first. I have argued with them until I am hoorifice. It is so frustrating!! We use a huge board in the MDS office that has a months worth of assessment times on it. It does change at times due to our case mix meetings but generally it is updated every wednesday. I have assessments still not completed from the 28th of October due to waiting on others. Last time I said something to the boss I got reamed out for "throwing team mates under the bus" So any help is greatly appreciated!!
  4. well so far it has been chaos, just started having CMI meetings to "optimize reimbursement" so now dates for assessments change weekly trying to get the CNA's to properly fill out the new four page briggs ADL forms and get the nurses to document on these people in assessment period is making me crazy!!! I have tried cheat sheets, reprimands, putting the pen in their hand and writing for them, making my own "mds" notes to try and get the documentation I needed, going daily to meet the residents, watch their care etc...etc... Cannot get anyone to take ownership of actually doing their section on time and putting their notes on the chart before the assessment is locked...our activity lady brings her notes to care plan meetings so she can put them in the charts then, dietary is months behind but tries to write her notes in care plan meetings, social services on one side of our building is right on time but the other guy is a pain in the******. Once when I mentioned he and dietary did not have their sections done on time to our owner I got royally chewed out for "throwing team members under the bus" because my sections were not complete. Tried to explain that I wait on everyone else before doing my parts so I can go over what they said in their notes, then do mine, then raps, care plans all in one smooth operation...what a joke that was!!! so FRUSTRATED!! not a cooperation, but 220 bed facility owned by mom and pop psycho team, actually now run by their son who is a junior psycho. still trying to get our "leader" to make decision on who is filling out which section, raps and trying to make them get their notes on the chart on time as well as doing their own care plans or updating them before we have careplan meeting since once they get to the meeting it is obvious they have no idea what is on their care plans and have not even looked at them. I love MDS process but this place is really something and I am really freaked at how this whole thing is going to turn out in the end.....
  5. from all i have been reading ( and I am in a train yourself facility) it looks to me like the option of doing the mds 3.0 early is the best. it is very confusing. i have contacted cms to see if i can get a reply but nothing yet. i have downloaded and printed all the information off of cms website about the medicare transition.none of us knew about this at all until i found it. our provider AHT is unaware and wants me to let them know what i find out.
  6. need help!!!!! have one week to come up with a "plan" and two weeks to implement a program for restorative nursing. new to MDS after seven year lapse and now this! need DETAILED INFORMATION on dining/ambulation/grooming/exercise. want to make it fun and creative as possible. do not want to step on activities toes but not sure how to make both work together or if that is even possible. is the step down program from rehab to restorative only for medicare? if you have someone on medicaid and they are coming off of rehab to restorative with a referral does it make a difference to do the step-down program with them? found a good BRIGGS form to document on and understand that the cna does weekly notes and I have to do monthly notes. is that what you all do? is there a good book/program to get that can give me step-by-step instructions on getting this thing going. hate to read pure detail but do better with good examples of how and what to do. if anyone knows of a good restorative (creative) program in NC I would love to contact them or visit them to see how they do what they do. my owners has his eyes on the CMI and "maximizing his reimbursement" and those eyes have focused on this restorative nursing thing. Please any help would be very appreciated.
  7. where did you find your training for other disciplines? we are going to the CMS/Meyers Stauffer training for NC. But wow is it crazy trying to get these people to think "new". have you found any creative ways for this implementation??
