  1. I know I have already commented once but I have to do it again. The place you were is not the only place for you. I work with many people that have been employed for 20 + years by our company. I am considered a baby at 12 years. Anyways I have actually seen these people lie exaggerate and do whatever they could to get new hires in trouble. Just becouse they don't like their looks. I have seen upper management (including the current DON) take their word for anything reported by these people. I had one girl report me and totally lie about what was said. She claimed I threatened her yet all I said was if she had a problem with the supervising nurse she needed to tell her and not me. Then I told her I wouldn't discuss this any further especially since we were in a residents room. The DON literally screamed and called me names and claimed the resident coincided her story (here is the catch the resident thinks every women is his wife and we are holding him in a prison etc. major confusion). However there were no witnesses to the resident giving this statement and the coworker denies ever telling. Here is the thing I took this as a learning experience and decided I would simply make it there as long as I can hopefully till I graduate the nursing program next year and then I am going to move on. My point is there are other places that will hire you and want to grow with you. There really are people out there that are immature and simply try to hurt others. Hang in there as you said you have children to feed you will be ok just don't give up cause then the mean people win. SORRY MY REPLY IS SO LONG.
  2. If you are absolutely sure you performed all of your duties to the best of your ability maybe you should seek legal counseling. However the fact that your coworkers were reporting you for everything didn't help. I have seen this allot where I work. Sometimes people decide they don't like you for no reason and they in turn rally their "friends" to help hinder your progress. If I were you I would just move on and explain to any future employers that you simply had a bad experience working at the other place and are willing to learn and gain better clinical skills if given the chance. Don't give up nursing because of some immature people and a bad work experience. Nurses Are needed everywhere and speaking on behalf of myself and others I can say I appreciate them.
  3. I am 33 and decided right after my 32 b-day to go to school. I was surfing the web late one night and decided to apply to college. After a year of prerequisites I have just begun the nursing program. I express to my children on a daily basis the importance of an education. So I figured if I am going to talk the talk I should walk the walk.
  4. I just love it when a resident calls you and asks for meds. Then every 5 minutes after they call back requesting the same med. And you can't just ignore the light or the nurse that is responsible for giving the meds will write you up. I just want to break that light and tell the nurse to get off her butt and give the darn meds!
  5. Good for you. I think it is great that you have decided to go to nursing school good luck.:)

I work nights and go to school during the day. I usually sleep 4 hours a day.I have gained allot of weight and I can be grumpy. But it isn't the same for everyone. I like to sleep during the early morning and spend the evenings with my family or studying. Just give your body time to adjust to the hour change and remember to stop all caffeine a couple hours before going to bed.
  7. I have been a CNA for many years and can tell you that as with most things patience is very important here. Just work at your own pace that you are comfortable with. Many times accidents happen when trying to be fast. And know that you are only human. Things take time.
  8. You can always try to get private loans but be ready they usually carry high interest rates.
  9. Don't give up!!!!!!!!!!!!You have made it this far. Half the struggle is over. I too began to struggle in Micro. but I made up my mind to study harder and succeed. I have received nothing lower than B's on my last 3 exams. I also ran into a glitch with my shot records and have made arraignments to fix them. I have found the more I struggle the harder I try and the more I learn. If I can do this so can you. Hang in there ask for help and you will succeed.
  10. I have learned that my charges are too old and do not relate to my position therefore they will not be held against me.
  11. No but I found out that I just have to give them prove of the charges the outcomes and write them a letter of explaination and I might have to go to a hearing. But I can't do this until I apply to take the NCLEX. I just wish I hadn't made the stupid mistakes I made. But hind sight is always 20/20. Plus someone told me since I am employable as a CNA I should be ok as a LPN.
  12. The Iowa Board will not accept calls from pregraduate students. I have been trying to search the Iowa law codes to find an answer. I have been told that misdemeanors do not always get counted against the applicant. Thank you for your reply.
  13. I am ashamed to say I have multiple disorderly conduct charges, a domestic assualt charge, a couple assualt charges and one theft charge that are all at least 12 years old. Most occuring within a short time. The theft charge was for a bad check and the rest were simply my stupidity. None of these charges are felonies and most were dissmissed. I have changed my life and am in the process of becoming a responsible and mature member of society. I have been accepted to a nursing program and have completed all my prerequistes with very high scores. None of my record has kept me from working as a CNA (for a long time now).
