Brown eye, Good luck with UIC, and thank you Hanna for clearing the question regarding Truman and UIC. Hanna is right, do not give up hope. My advise to you is to apply to as many school as you can. I like Truman, it works for me. By the way Hanna, how are you hanging ? I dont think I had a day off since I started in August.

Hey Lela20, Nope, unfortunately I did not hear from UIC, which is a shame. I was actually expecting at least a letter of denial, but hey, paper is expensive now-a-day. I am currently going to Truman and I am very happy with the program. Eventually will go back and get my BSN.

Did anyone purchased the last bundle? Do you know if it's available?

I took mine a H Washington. Since both school are part of City of Chicago Colleges, they are good anywhere you go within CCC. You should not have a problem. They can see it at Truman in their system, actually.

Don,t worry, I received mine in a few days. I know it's late, but you shoud be fine by Friday. I already submitted my forder, I didn't have the Influenza vaccine, but, thanks to the flooding on Friday, I found the paper with the vaccine I did last fall. So I should be set now if they require to have that done.

Quick question : Do we need H1N1 and flu vaccines? If so, where did you go have them done? I called a few clinics and they did not have them.

They have the bundle on the green paper- the more expensive one which includes among many other books nursing assessment and pharmacology.....i don't have the list with me right now to tell you exactly the titles. The $300 bundle is not yet in, however , they said it is another bundle there available, which was not given to us, but they said it is required. I bought it, they told me not to open it yet in case I want to return it. It was about 70 dollars and it contains a nurse drug guide and something else- did not pay attention to it but it looks like something to practice for NCLEX. About the stethoscope, they did not specify which one they want, however, from this thread, I learned from a second year student that we should not go cheap on these and go ahead and purchase a good one, as some they are selling at the store (i assume the school store ) are not very good. I am looking up online for good stethoscopes, and I am thinking of getting one from Welch Allyn, they are expensive , but I am thinking I will be using one for a very long time. If anyone has better suggestions, let me know, please.

I went to Truman and purchased the first bundle: IT IS HUGE, I feel so intimidated, just by looking at the amount of information we would need to process in this coming year. I am searching for a GREAT pair of white shoes....Any suggestions ?

there are meters all over the parking lot. they are different than your regular meter, and it gives you the option to pay for as many hours at a time but no refunds. Then you must display it on your window , just like in any other place. hopefully this helps

wanted to let everyone know that today I went to Truman and the parking lot by the lake is metered and AT LEAST it let you pay for as many as 24 hours. That is good news, I was afraid that it will have a time limit just as the rest of the meters in chicago. The cost is $1 an hour from 9am-9pm and 0.25 cents from 9pm to 9 am.

gonnabenurse11, Quick questions: how do you feel after the first year? what is one thing you would recommend freshmen do this summer before starting the program? I feel that I should recap anatomy, I took it a while back and feel that I forgot so much....

Per Truman Chairman, or I don't know his position, but he was a school official at the orientation ( night time), the parking lot will be ready by the end of fall....so by December, because they do not have an exact date from the architects, the parking lot will be ready...that means that we will have to rely on the Lake parking lot, because parking in the neighborhood is a huge problem, there are rarely free spots..... regarding health insurance......I think they will require us to have health insurance, but I am not sure if the school offer one...if they don't, that is messed up....but it is a good question.... I took my CPR class at MalcolmX, if you are enrolled at Truman, I would stay there ....

Frida, Thank you for the info....Aslo I received this e-mail that now the parking at the Lake is metered and we will have to pay ...that sucks ! My issue is that if we will have only 2 hour parking rights, like at any chicago meter, it will be impossible to Not get a ticket since the class last 2 hour +getting from the parking lot to the class ( I usually like to get to school early so if they put a limit on the parking, that will not be possible). How do you park at Truman ( for those who drive ?)
