TN Visa Requirements
I have a question about the documents that I will need to bring with me as I fly into the US (I am a Canadian citizen). I already have the Visa Screen Certificate from CGFNS, passed my NCLEX, have my BSN from a school in Georgia and have my CA license. So the only things I need to bring with me are: - Visa Screen Certificate - NCLEX results - CA license - Transcripts and/or copy of my diploma - Job offer letter from the hospital I will be working at - Passport Is there anything else I need to have/bring? Also, I am engaged to marry an American citizen, so I plan to apply for my green card through him (I have no idea how this process is done, but will worry about that later). My question is: should I not mention this through immigration because it's my understanding they want to make sure my intended stay is tempory (obviously that is not the case).

Northridge Hospital Medical Center
Hey Roxygirl. Thanks so much! I don't have any experience as a CNA or really any hospital experience. I do have my BSN and also my Bachelors of Health Science with good GPAs. I don't know if that helped my application. Good luck to you!

Northridge Hospital Medical Center
Hey roxygirl, I got a phone call from them 2 weeks ago and she said I was selected to move to the next step which was completing a career battery assessment. She said only a very small group of ppl were selected to move to this step...probably becasue they have some internal candidates that they will be taking.

UCLA New Grad Program 2010
310-825-8141 is the number I called. I didn't ask for anyone specific, just asked for the status of my application to the woman that picked up the phone.

UCLA New Grad Program 2010
I just called today for an updated status of my application and the woman looked up my name in the computer and then put me on hold so I could talk to Sherri. She wanted to schedule an interview with me..so I'm going tomorrow morning..and then have an interview with the unit director of the liver transplant/sicu unit in January. She didn't mention anything about the icu's not hiring. I would recommend calling them..

UCLA new RN residency program 2010
@QRN22: haha i know exactly what you mean...I majorly debated today whether I should bring my phone with me into the gym! I decided against it today but from now on its coming with me :)

UCLA new RN residency program 2010
@betra123 and vanessaRN: I'm from in-state...let me know if you guys hear anything!

UCLA new RN residency program 2010
I also applied for the ICU and no call yet...My number one choice was the liver transplant/surgical ICU. My second and third choices were either CTICU, CCU or MICU all at RR (I can't remember which two I chose and in which order). It really doesn't matter to me - I just want an ICU position! So no one has received a call that applied for ICU?

USC university hospital NEW grad residency
That's great ValentineTheBSN!! When is your interview??
-
UCLA New Grad Program 2010
Congrats everyone for getting interviews!! It's good to hear they are scheduling them in December and not waiting until Jan! Hopefully some of you get job offers at the interview :)
-
USC New Grad Program 2011
@monkeysarecute: where did you hear they are only hiring for the ICU's? Just curious because that is what I applied for and I have yet to get a rejection email......although now that I have posted this, a rejection email is probably being sent to my inbox! haha

Visa Screen Certificate / CGFNS
I completely agree..I'm also Canadian and completed all my schooling in the states, passed NCLEX and STILL had to do CGFNS. I think it's a complete scam and a waste of $540.

UCLA new RN residency program 2010
Just an update for everyone: I called UCLA today and she said they've already begun calling for interviews, but they will still be calling people into next week and possibly the next. She also said there will most likely only be 1 in person interview with the nurse recruiter...which I'm not sure exactly how that works (maybe the unit director sits in with the interview?). And some of the interviews aren't being scheduled until the new year...Hopefully this helps and we all get calls!! :)

I didn't realize they only had a certain number of hard applications! I guess that would make sense though....

CGFNS Question
Hey tk0224, thanks for the info about the letter! I'm actually seeking employment in California or Texas so hopefully wherever I end up has experience with TN status job letters! Good luck with CGFNS!!

Are there any Canadians who completed their ADN and are now working in the USA?
You can do OPT (Optional Practical Training) for one year after you graduate, however I'm not sure if you can obtain that with an associates degree. I did the OPT after I graduated with my bachelors. That would get you the experience you want before going for your BSN.

CGFNS Question
Also, what is included in your letter of employment? That's the last step I have and I'm really confused as to how detailed or what exactly needs to be in the letter??
-
CGFNS Question
If you want to get a hold of them, you need to call RIGHT at 8AM Eastern Time. I live on the West Coast and had to wake up at 5AM several times so that I would be able to speak to a customer service representative. If you try to call them later in the morning you most likely won't be able to get through!

UCLA new RN residency program 2010
Ya I wonder if they are cutting out the in-person interview with the senior nurse recruiter and going straight to the unit manager. I guess it would make sense because the summer cohort started their application process Feb 1st (I think) and didn't start work until August. So that's 6+ months of going through the hiring process. We didn't apply until Oct 25 and start in Feb or March so that's only about 4 months!! I guess all we can do is hope!! :)

Northridge Hospital Medical Center
Has anyone heard anything back from Northridge for the program starting in Feb??
-
UCLA New Grad Program 2010

Previous new grads that were hired Summer 2010: just out of curiousity, what is the starting salary for us?? I know it's supposed to be one of the best and just wondering what that is! Thanks in advance :)
