  1. It always depends on how people do as a whole... but most people scored 140s-150s.
  2. Actually, this past NCLEX passing rate was around 97%. There would almost be 500+ students trying to apply to the program each year. The pre-req class content is still the same but they might add pathophysiology or pharmacology prior to the program.
  3. It depends on your study style! Some people can read online w/o writing down notes or highlighting... or they may keep notes in a separate book. I personally liked having a physical book with me... I liked writing in the book. Both have pros and cons. Physical books could be heavy but think about what's effective studying for you.
  4. usually, that's a good sign. honestly, wait 2 days and get the real results because it tells you right then and there.
  5. they say that majority pass at 75 questions as opposed to failing :)
  6. In the end, it doesn't matter what people think. It's what you want to pursue and if it's something that's been in your mind for that long, do it. Seriously, it's now or never. Many times, we sit there and day-dream our what ifs...well, how about we stop day-dreaming and go after what we want? Nursing is tough, yes but what's ever easy? Go for it! If doors don't open for you, that's another story. Let's start this one!
  7. First of all, things happen and we're not perfect. I personally thought the NCLEX was a DIFFICULT EXAM. Do not beat yourself up over it, it's like a big crush to your soul but it's not the end of the world, remember that. Stop, breathe and give you yourself a break for a bit. If you are feeling overwhelmed, upset or defeated at the moment, I would say give yourself some time to yourself. Pray, sleep, go hang out with your friends and family or whatever puts your nerves at ease. Breathe. What do you think are your weaknesses? How did you study? Give an example of what your study day or study schedule looks like. I would tab my books and focused on topics I didn't know. The topics that I felt like I knew, I went over them in the end. Study and take breaks. Do not cram everything all at once. I did questions over and over again even though my grades seemed pretty low to me. Once my grades became consistent, I felt a little more confident. I also prayed and had amazing support from family & friends, which made a big difference. Don't like the result of an exam make you feel defeated. You can sit there feeling sorry for yourself or get up, build your confidence and take another go at it. I have faith that you can definitely do it! :0)
  8. Both ED fellowships are filled! :)
  9. Oh, yes! I sat with other candidates and saw their GPAs, resumes...etc. Some of them definitely were there through connections... Go for it if you can!
  10. Hi guys, I was wondering... what was the 3rd round like? Is it an interview? What do you think they were looking for if it's an informational session?
  11. ZellRN, did you call them back?
  12. Any updates, guys? Wondering how the process is going...
  13. Try to go for a BSN program especially if you're in NY, there aren't many places hiring ADN nurses... It's already difficult with a BSN but the Institute of Medicine is trying to have nurses extend their education.
  14. anyone hear back? or is it filled?
  15. How did you find out? Were you interviewed?
  16. How do you set up your day? I usually started off my day doing a trainer or questions then rest and read. You might recognize things from nursing school. To help lessen the load to study, go over topics you're unsure about. It definitely lightened the load. Once I had certain topics down, I was able to go back to things I thought I knew and just made sure I had it right. I think people can have a tendency to do too much because you never feel like you study enough if you're slacking off but seriously, give yourself a break. It makes a BIG difference...not only physically but mentally! There were times where I had to take several days off because I was becoming too overwhelmed! Go outside, hang out with friends for a bit, talk to people for support or take a nap!
  17. I found the NCLEX-RN to be very much similar to Kaplan as opposed to Hurst. I think the Hurst exams were a lot easier than Kaplan but NCLEX felt more clear than Kaplan. What helps is knowing your core content, going over things you're still unsure about and taking those question trainers. You need to build your test taking and strategy skills. How often do you take question trainers? If you're doing them quite often, I would say take a break at times you feel you need a break because you don't want to tire yourself out. You want to be able to function while answering the trainers, just like you would on the NCLEX. I felt horrible about taking breaks at times but I knew I needed them. :-) Stick with a few materials because you might feel the need to read through different books and etc but it can alter your study method because you're constantly bouncing back and forth from one book/material to another. Set a plan with a particular one. You know more than you think you know, constantly delaying your exam can tire you out more or even raise your anxiety level!
  18. thanks guys! i went out to check out the kaplan book and supposedly, ETS is getting ready to change the GRE in August of 2011. Educational Testing Service (ETS), the organization that writes and administers the GRE, has announced a series of major changes to the test. The changes, planned for August 2011, promise to be the most significant changes to the GRE General Test in the test's history.
  19. hi all, i was looking up graduate school requirements and all of them required the GRE (this means the general exam, right?) was it tough? i was wondering if any of you could recommend to me some books that were helpful to you. i don't perform too well on standardized exams and could use some tips as well! thank you all!

  24. WHOA! when did they go over the CPR certification? Did the earlier sections walk out? So we have to acquire the CPR certificate by the American Heart Association, but which one is it? I'm looking up the classes but it says "Choose A Course"... help!
