Thanks for the different insights. I was not aware of CVICU being a take all if necessary. Sounds like learning opportunities for me.. I just happened to float to the PCU cardiac/tele unit the other night and had the usual drips. But I received a transfer pt from another hospital that they were going to start on Tikosyn drip, which would have been new to me. But I was covering a night shift, so they weren't going to start the drip till the cardiologist came in to see patient in AM.. darn!!

I am a Neuro, Tele, PCU RN working on the same unit for 16 months. I want to move to ICU, but prefer to broaden my scope to include CVICU, as my current hospital does not have a Neuro ICU. Would you go to another hospital with Neuro ICU to start in ICU or apply to CVICU? Should I work as floor nurse in a cardio unit before making the jump if my only choice is CVICU/MICU? Looking for advice...Thanks!!

Hi Emily, Be prepared for questions that ask about how you handled situations prior to this position. You will want to show your strengths in improvising, adapting and possibly dealing with others whether school or work related who don't pull their own weight, are you team oriented but can you work alone, etc. Here are a couple of questions I was asked recently in a CNA interview: How do you work in teams, what did you do when a project didn't proceed as intended? Explain a time when you were in a group and what role did you have and the outcome of the project. Name a time that you had to go above and beyond your call of duty? Tell about a time when you had a conflict with a coworker? How did you resolve it? Tell me about a time when have you taken accountability for something that was your fault, and what did you do to fix it? In your mind, what is good patient care? And I wore a blouse, skirt and summer sandals. Business casual, no jeans, or shorts. Hope this helps.. Ally1982

It is 1155 am? Why does this board list the current time at 1855 hrs?

I am in the class now and it is taking up all my time. I am using the online Pearson login. I think it helps, but I still do a lot of searching on the internet being sure to take in enough information so not to plagerize on the AYLS. I have to go this week yet to take midterm.
