For those of us that didn't get in.... :(
I know there a few of us that didn't make it into the 2011 Spring program at CSN. I applied with 26 points for the part time track, I knew it was a long shot but still gave it a try (unsuccessfully). What are you going to do to increase your chances to get in? The cut off was 27 for fulltime I read. Have you taken all your pre-req? Anyway I just thought we could share ideas and give support. I couldn't help but feel very sad that I didn't make it. Jessica

CSN Spring 2011 RN Program
I am completely discouraged . I have been reading all the posts about the part time track and it seems that the minimum points are 28 or so. I applied with 26. I wanted to apply for the full time but thought it would be best for my family to do part time. Seems like I won't be getting in Jess

Apollo College questions
The one here in Las Vegas is a 2yr program (including the pre-req). There are no pre-req's required to be admitted. You have to take an exam, an interview, and write an essay. If you do well on all three then you will meet with a financial aid person. the program here is about $45K for an ADN. They do say that they take transfer credits which could lower the cost, however, they have yet to transfer credits for students because their course is not the same as the ones offered at other colleges. At least that is what they said at the Las Vegas one last week. They advised us that it is almost impossible to work during their program because you have to be available. They don't work around your schedule so you can't have any other responsibilities. Other than that I think that is all the info they gave us. Glad to answer any other questions you might have. Good Luck, Jessica

Pre-Nursing Student @ CSN Introducing Myself!
Hello there, I am also a Pre-Nursing student at CSN. I am taking Mico this semester. I have taken all the other Bio classes but I registered for A&P again to try to get a better grade. I took my other Bio classes out of state though. I am also registered for Soc 101 for Dec 15th(online). And like you I also graduated high school in 2000! Well good luck. Hope to talk to you again. Jessica :wink2:

Prokaryotes vs Eukaryotes
I really need alot of help if anyone can please help me. I am taking Microbiology and I am working on my first assignment. I have to explain how bacteria carry out normal cell processes without mitochondria, golgi apparatus, ER, lysosomes, nucleus, basically all the organelles that the prokaryotes don't have. I have read and reread my book and have found the answer to some but not others. I have searched the web as well but have not been successful. Can someone guide me to a good website on where I can find this information? Thanks so much for all your help! Jessica:bow:

Microbiology - Fall 2008
Hello everyone my name is Jessica :) I am going to be taking the last pre-reqs this semester. Micro and communications. I took A & P I and II about 2 yrs ago (i got pregnant and took a break). I am very nervous because A & P was so difficult. I am using the book Microbiology with Diseases by Taxonomy by Robert Bauman. Is anyone else using the same book? Looking forward to get to know everyone! Jessica Las Vegas, NV

Anyone getting ready to apply for Fall 2009?
Hello everyone. I am from Las Vegas and also hoping to be accepted into the Fall 2009 program. I will be taking Communication and Sociology over the summer and Micro in the Fall. I have taken all the others I just need these 3 to apply. I also have to take the NLN-RN. I hope to be accepted. I need to study for the NLN. I did my CNA program last January 07. I liked it but some of the nurses were not very friendly unfortunatley. Hope to get to you know you all. Jessica

Apollo College?
Thanks for the replies! I appreciate it so much. I will really check out the place when I go in for the orientation and ask about being accredited and whether or not I can transfer my credits in the future. I also would like to pursue higher education at some point. Angelica thanks so much for doing that for me. My questions would be about the acceleration part...how much more accelerated. The cost of it and also if for any reason I had to drop out (if life happens) would I still owe the whole amount of the loans? And just overall how good is the program. Thank you so much!!! Skipping the wait is very tempting. I need to be able to go to school now that my circumstances are right. Maybe 2yrs from now I won't be able to. KWIM? Thanks alot, Jessica

Waiting Time??
Thanks so much for replying. I was in Vegas this weekend but I did not go to UNLV. It is nice that they don't have a wait. I hope I to be accepted. I won't apply until the fall I think. I am so excited. Thanks so much. Jessica

I have a question on blood?
Can someone help me understand why vomiting blood can contribute to having more nausea. I thought it would be because of the metalic taste of it but my teacher says that is the wrong answer. I am looking in my book and have done internet searchs and cannot find anything. Can someone direct me in the right direction please. Thanks so much. Jessica

Anyone attending nursing school in Las Vegas?
Hello my name is Jessica and I will be moving to LV in May. I am currently in Albuquerque, NM. I am taking pre-reqs for the ADN program. For unforseen reasons I am having to move soon. I called CCSN and spoke with a lady at the health departments and she was not so friendly. I would like to know your experience with the school and how long the wait is for the program. Or how it works. She would not tell me much. If anyone can please give me some info. I have taken A & P I and II, Psychology, Chemistry, Biology, Communications, Math 100B, and English101, all I need (for the program out here) is Microbiology and another Psychology. Is this similiar to the pre-reqs over there? Please any info or help would be appreciated. THanks so much! Jessica
