C Spine stabalization for the walking wounded
Hi, I'm a relatively new nurse working in ER. We see a fair amount of trauma as we are in a remote area, and the closest place. What is the best way to manage C spine stabalization for those who walk into the ER, or are wheeled in? ie.. a woman is wheeled in from registration with a head, possibly neck/back injury from fall, but walked to the ER. ?? do you lay them on the ground, or tell them to stand up and get in bed with the backboard already laid down. C Collar them while sitting I suppose?

graduate nurses in Navy and Air Force
Hey there all. I am very interested in continuing this post. I am just beginning the steps of contacting the armed forces recruitment people. I'm interested in what they have to offer and what the benefits are. I've always been a little interested in the armed forces, but never have pursued them truly. Can anyone give me insight into what they've told you so far. What will happen after you sign up? Loan forgiveness? It'll be interesting to see if there is a difference between offices. I'm in Texas graduating in August with a BSN. Take care

TCU Accelerated Nursing Program - Advice
ok. I guess I can't do that for some reason... I'm not sure why. my original message: Hello. I have an odd ball question for Purple Scrubs since you have graduated the program. I hate to ask it, but in the end I have to be real with myself. Was the drug screening for the nursing program a hair follicle screening or urine analysis? This step has been a big one in my life, and I admit as the start date approaches I grow a little more nervous. I've been disciplined in the past 10 months, but my attitude before that was much more carefree. I know the hair follicle testing goes back as far as 15 months, even further depending on what sources you read. Thanks for the help if you are willing to share.

Applicants to PDX area Nursing Schools 2010
I got my acceptance letter on Friday. I don't want to seem as if I'm saying anything bad about the program, as everyone I talked to there has been super nice and accessible. I've been very pleased with them so far. The comments I heard came from 2 Vancouver nurses who weren't very impressed with the technical/skill level of the graduates. They were saying that they felt the graduates from there were too focused on book learning. But, I don't know how much stock to put into what they are saying.. you know. Maybe they were just being snobs? :) hence, I'm asking on here.

Looking For a Little Direction
I've been accepted to 2 accelerated BSN programs, one of them in Portland. it may even take you some time to be eligible to apply, even with a degree. It took me almost a year, alot of changes and no small sum of money just to get the prerequisites done. But, it has worked, and now I'm headed in. I had no experience. I've also had nurses tell me a CNA and a RN aren't that close in regards to job responsibilities, depending on the RN's job. so it might not be a good benchmark. I will say this though, if you are hard-lined on living in Portland you might think again about "nursing shortage". it doesn't appear to be the case there. I don't currently live in OR, and after having read some of these posts I'm starting to lean towards staying in the south. Lots of opportunities here. it just depends on your flexibility... which is true in any profession almost. Good luck.

What am I doing wrong??
hello. I have a question for anyone with an opinion: I've been accepted to the Linfield BSN program to start in June. However, the two RNs I know in Vancouver had less than stellar things to say about the graduates from that program. As in, they didn't have much functional knowledge, but they know how to read a book very well if you catch the drift. Does anyone have any input? good or bad. I'm trying to decide between two programs. Thank you!

RN Salary Portland OR
Hello. I have a question you might be able to help me out with: I've been accepted to the Linfield nursing program. I have heard not so great things about students coming out of that school. As in, they don't know what they're doing... only how to read. :) However, I know this represents only 2 opinions... do you have any input? Thank you.

TCU Accelerated BSN 2010
Hello. I made it into the program as well. Congrats to eveyrone! If you're like me then you were anxious to know either way. I have some concerns about how to pay for all this though. :) Has anyone started that process? They basically keep telling me to just hold on for the award package, then I know I'll have to figure everything out very quickly. I'm going to begin looking for good private funding (loans), and would be willing to share information with others.
