  1. Yes Clinton Community is that bad, so many sad stories. I went there and dropped out in the first semester when I realized they weren't being fair. I have a friend who made it to her third semester and they failed her because in her final exam she scored a 74 where the passing grade was 75 but her average for the class was in the high 80's. Their rule is you fail the final you fail the class no matter how well you where doing. Truth is the teacher just didn't want her to make it. If you look at the nclex pass rates they are in the 90's every year with an average of 33 out of 35 students passing. What they don't tell you is that 70 students start off in the program every year and about 25 to 30 makes it with a few students who failed a course the previous year added to the class. When you are getting ready for an exam they make you read ten long chapters and when you actually take the exam all the questions are taken from just two of them....Ridiculous! They basically pass who the want to pass.
  2. Actually there is another SUNY school near by that offers nursing...clinton community college in Plattsburgh but I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy, there nursing program is Horrible! I just tried to reapply to SUNY Plattsburgh but they shot me down by saying if I didn't get in the first time I won't get in the second time around. They get around 200 applicants and accept 10-20 students, I don't know if they told me that to discourage me. But I had every single pre-req. Good luck to all of you.
  3. I think you guys have the Anatomy and Physiology confused. Anatomy and Physiology is a such a heavy course the it's separated into two sections A&P I and A&P II. Medgar has two sequences the 251 which is A&P I and A&P II which is 252. If you need more time to get a grip of the material you take the Bio 150 class which is the introduction into A&P and then you take 151 which is the equivalent to 251 and 152 the equivalent to 252. I went through a tough time taking these courses at Medgar.
  4. You should try applying without using your transcript from CUNY, but if it's another school within CUNY they would likely find out that you were in another nursing program. If any school sees that you failed out of Nursing they won't accept you. At this point I can only recommened starting from scratch since it was only your first semester. If you already have all of your pre-reqs done than you're in luck that is if all your pre-reqs were NOT done at the College of Staten Island.
  5. I would like to thank everyone for the encouragement, keep the advices coming it's helping me alot.
  6. I have been pursuing nursing for several years now and worked very hard to complete my prerequisites and spent hundreds of dollars on application fees and transcripts. Now that I finally got into a nursing school for Fall 2010 I have lost the drive to do nursing. I have lost hope because I know people who finished nursing school and can't find a job, I thought there was a shortage of nurses, or has that changed? I see people writing on here about how they're also having a hard time finding a job. To make matters worst I didn't even know that one has to take a pharmacology exam before getting hired, I heard a lot about people taking the pharmacology exam but I didn't know what it was for. I thought exams stopped after the state boards. I would love to do nursing but there's way too much work to be done only to end up with no job after finishing nursing school. Now I'm just frustrated and confused. I don't know where to go from here because I spent so much of the last 3 years preparing for this. If anyone out there has any advice as too what I should do please feel free because I'm ready to drop nursing now.
  7. It never hurts to try transferring but in case you're looking for something now try corning community college even though its a 2 yr school I think they are still taking applications for the Fall. You can look them up and ask but as a warning I didn't hear too many good things about their nursing program. If you are looking to enter for Spring 2011 I can give you some other schools you can try. I am curious to know how many courses were you taking to end up failing ns.
  8. congrats bgmayagi for getting into the program at berkshire, let me know how things go in the program as you progress, i want to see if i should still apply for next year. in the mean time i will look into the college you suggested and at other schools also. good luck!:)
  9. I looked at their nclex pass rates too and the 95.5% pass rate came from the 2009 exams with 42 out of 44 passing and in 2008 92.3% with 48 out of 52 passing. They never say how many started out in the program only how many passed from the nursing program and took the exam. From what I hear Corning takes 100-120 students every year and to see only an average of 48 students making it out makes you wonder if its worth taking the risk to go there.
  10. I got into the Corning Community College Nursing program a few weeks ago with less than a 3.0 gpa their program for Nursing has no deadline. I was going to apply since last year but I was told by an admissions advisor that they still had like 28 open seats for Fall 2009 and it was the end of May. That scared me because usually Nursing programs are full by the end of the application season. That gave me the impression that there's something wrong with their Nursing program. Not to discourage you but on studentsreview.com someone posted a review about ccc nursing program that said there class started with 120 students and finished with 47. I most likely wont be going to ccc.
  11. To 86toronado, I know this message was posted over a year ago and I hope you get this, I am currently looking for information about Ellis hospital school of Nursing. I just got accepted there for Fall 2010 and I feel so hopeless and thinking about not going even though I paid the deposit fee to hold my seat. I really need all the information i can get please let me know how i can get in touch with you for the questions I really need to ask. I would GLADLY appreciate it. Thanks!
  12. I got my letter from Berkshire a couple of days ago and like I expected I wasn't accepted, despite the fact that all I needed from them were the clinicals because I have everything else. I guess I'll try again for next year.
  13. I always knew that all schools take their own before they take the outsiders. I 'm worst because I'm transferring in from out of state so I really didn't have my hopes up about this school, but because I have all of the classes and all I need are the clinicals I gave it a shot. I will let you know if i do get it.
  14. I actually applied to Berkshire for Fall 2010, I'm still waiting on a reply which I should be getting within the next 2 weeks. I researched the school and I do know that it is hard to get into, they take students in every year not every semester. I am trying to find out how they grade on theory and clinicals because I made the mistake of going to a Nursing school that based most of their final grade on theory. I really need to find someone that knows about this place.
  15. Best of luck to you too. Thanks
