started 3rd week of orientation and got told by the director :(
I also asked my preceptor to print me out protocals and procedures that we frequently did on that floor so that I could become familar with them. She gave me print outs of heparin, intregelin, nitro, etc protocals. teaching handouts on what we had to do before and after a certain test / procedure, ie heart cath, tee, admits and d/c. I had a binder filled with teaching instructions including protocal for chest pain pts. I studied at home and I had allot of notes to go back to for future reference. Hope this will help you.:)

started 3rd week of orientation and got told by the director :(
I had twelve weeks orientation as a new grad. I thought twelve weeks was the norm. 8 pts is a bit much for even a seasoned nurse. The floor is not like nursing school my third week I think I was only taking three pts. What I did was got a binder with all the important numbers ext I needed to know. I took notes also while I was being precepted and kept that binder with me for quick reviews so I wouldn't have to keep asking the preceptor something new. If I needed another explanation I defintly asked, but I had my notes of new things to reflect on. especially shortcuts and review sites on the computer. Good luck.

pre-nursing mom of 3 needs advice
Hello pre nursing mom, I started the nursing program while I was pregnant, with a four and five year old. There were several other pregnant moms also in my nursing program. Our class started with about sixty students, only twenty seven of us sixty that started the class finished. Amazingly me and the other four pregnant moms was among the twenty seven that went straight through the program. I think our situations made us more determine to do it one time and one time only (each semester ) and besides kids need to learn to socialize, to be with other kids. When my kids started pre-k and kindergarten they were honor role students because they had a head start in day care. Find a day care that has a teaching enviroment. This was seven years ago, I'm so glad I did it at that time there's so much activities once your kids start school to include being there to help with home work. A three day a week schedule allows you to be flexible for family times. Gook luck with your decision.

how long does it take for them to evaluate your job application?
Donit be discouraged, it took me almost two and a half months to get a reply from a company. When the nursing office finally called she said that the job had to be posted for a certain amount of days and that the in house employees nurse had to be given the first chance of obtaining that position. After the deadline for the job if no in house nurse requested a transfer to the position then they started calling other applicants. Although it took almost three months I did get the Job. One of the top hospitals in Florida. Maybe call human resource and ask what is the process for new hires.:)
