  1. I have experience at Hendrick as a student and it was all positive. I lived in Abilene for 5 years for school (nursing) and worked at the hospital as a nurse tech and also did most of my clinicals there. Good place to work...friendly and knowledgeable nurses in my experience. I am also originally from California though, so I definitely agree with the poster who said it would be a huge culture shock. I'm currently in Dallas and it fits me much better. But I will always have a spot in my heart for Abilene.
  2. Anyone still interested in this topic? I am!
  3. I work at Children's in Dallas and yes, I LOVE it!! It is a great place to work as a nurse. Very competitive, which is good if you get in because you will be working with other excellent nurses. Check daily for new job openings that you qualify for. You can search for "graduate nurse" on the career page. Or google and then contact one of our recruiters, that may be a good place to start. In the non-ICU/ER areas, PALS is not required, just PEARS. If you have a specific question, PM me, I might be able to answer, as I started at Children's as a new grad too and went through the orientation and everything. :) Good luck!
  4. I did my advanced practicum work there and loved every minute. I think they typically look at grades, leadership, communication, and of course the interview. For the nurse resident program there is also an essay.
  5. I didn't think we were getting taxed again...where did you guys hear that? I thought it was just the amount they withheld. ??
  6. Wahooo!! My letter came today!! I'm so thankful! Heck I don't care about the taxes, it's still such a huge help...never been so happy to have taxes held in my life! :) The friends I've made and support I've received on here have been incredible. Good luck to everyone else! DSH in TX, 186%, Gold Team, email 7/14, letter today
  7. Congratulations to everyone who has received letters! I'm going crazy as I can't check my mail until tonight...tempted to call the neighbor and have her bust into my mailbox. :) Waiting patiently (hahaha) in Texas....
  8. NELRP Help - THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart! I too have now had my faith in humanity restored!
  9. Yes, email in Texas on 7/14 - Gold team, 182%
  10. To those who have received email replies, who did you email? Did you just reply to the email address that you received the banking info/contract stuff from?
  11. Ugh. I just called and they said they couldn't give me any information.
  12. I think what Tess meant was that the email stated they would be signing the contract on their end sometime between August and September; at least that's what mine said, too.
  13. Did anyone call to verify that they received your fax? I don't know about you, but a little confirmation from the fax machine is not doing much to ease my worry that it got lost in cyber transit. Am I being silly? Surely they're monitoring their incoming faxes well, right? Surely if there was an issue with the fax not getting through, I would have known on my end, right? **biting my one remaining nail**
  14. 182%, Texas, Gold Good luck!
