  1. My husband accepted a job in Alberta Canada and I would like to work as a RN there. I have been a nurse for 6 years with 6 years of ICU experience as well as many certifications. I also fill in as relief Charge Nurse on a pretty regular basis. I have an associates in nursing. I read some old threads from before the NCLEX became mandatory in most parts of Canada. I have contacted the CARNA asking specifically if I qualify to apply to be a Ca RN with an associates. They didn't answer my question only told me to submit my NNAS application which requires a $650 fee. Does anyone know the CURRENT rules on this?
  2. I swear.... I mean really, the majority of the nurses on my unit have only been nurses there for 5ish years....thats really not THAT long ago that they were new nurses, new graduates. But yet it seems like they don't remember how hard it was, how difficult it is to learn and learn soooo much, and start a new job, and be around new coworkers, and that sometimes you don't get it ALL right....but no, they seem to thrive off of watching the new nurse squirm, and be uncomfortable, and ask for help only to be talked down to. I vow right now, in 5 yrs when I'm on the other end, when there's a new nurse on the unit, and they're learning, and they're asking questions, or if they mess up...I vow that I will never make them feel like the nurses on my unit have made me feel. I will be kind, i will remember what this feels like, and I will help them in a kind and effective way. I will teach them. I will be kind.
  3. Update!!! I posted two days ago on Friday... got the good pop up an hour after taking NCLEX RN and....... I PASSED!!! Found out first thing this morning! Yeah, PVT kept me from completely losing it this wknd. PVT works. It also worked for two of my other class mates!
  4. hey! sorry you didn't pass but good for you with the positive attitude. I would suggest this: do Hurst Review to get the core content, the live review if you can. Then buy the Kaplan book about $35... its really great on telling you "how" to read/answer NCLEX questions. As for practice tests do Lippencott's and the Kaplan ones. You already know what to expect... you'll pass it the 2nd time around!!!! Good Luck!!
  5. ok ok... I just took NCLEX RN this morning at 8.... I had 75 questions, and took about an hour and 45. I walked out of there crying. I felt like I didn't know anything. I had about 20 drugs that seemed like they were made up, a handful of disease processes I'd never heard of and about 8 SATA. I tried the PVT got the Good Pop Up, but of course I'm still freaking. On the re-registration you're suppose to put "yes" i've taken this before and "yes" i've taken it for this license before right?? I feel like there's no way I could have passed.
  6. Hey guys! So me and my type A personality has studied until my brain is mush. I graduated at the beginning of August and I only went 1 wk without studying. I did HURST live review in April, Hurst online review in August. Studied the Hurst workbook from the review, the HURST Nclex book with questions... ALSO, i studied Kaplan and did those questions, and then I got out the good old Hesi NCLEX book and studied that one and did some of those questions, did some lippenchotts questions, and Saunders as well.. then today someone told me I really shouldn't Ihave done so many different ones. NOW I'm worried that I've screwed myself.... anyone else used a number of different study guides? Did you find it helpful?? Thanks, i'm freaking out a little.
