  1. they say the best way is to just study 10 meds a day and by groups. because once you figure out what group it's in then you have an idea of what it does and what s/e etc. i dont know of an easier way esp since med questions are the type whether you know it or you dont. maybe index cards can help also use clues like: Drugs with these endings_usually belongs to this class - caine ___ Local anesthetics - cillin____ Antibiotics - dine_____Antiulcer agents (Histamine H2 blockers) - done ____Opioid analgesics - ide______ Oral hypoglycemics - lam _________Anti-anxiety drugs - micin ________Antibiotics - mide ________Diuretics - mycin _______Antibiotics - nium ________Neuromuscular blocking agents - olol _________Beta-blockers - oxacin _______Antibiotics - pam ________Anti-anxiety drugs - pril _________ACE inhibitors - sone _______Steroids - statin ______Anti-hyperlipidemics - vir _________Anti-virals - zide _______ Diuretics
  2. thanks kalop & best of luck to you also :) i took it in march as well. it was draining but i'm just doing my best to gain some confidence while practicing. i'm focusing a lot on infection control because that's what i got a lot of last time (along with delegation & meds (lots of meds! my weakness ). i'll paste a good memory tool that i found in a forum at the end. i noticed it helped me a lot in getting answers right in practice tests. maybe it'll help you too. we can do this! wannabRN86 yay i'm happy for you! i didn't even know there was a number to call. i hope the trick gives me a good sign in a couple of weeks for now i'll keep practicing. it did say that i was just below passing so hopefully this extra time reviewing will help this time. anyway, congrats again! go celebrate Infection Precautions has 3 types: Airborne, Droplet and Contact Airborne (My Chicken Hez TB) Measles Chicken pox Herpes Zoster Tuberculosis Management: -private room -negative airflow pressure, minimum of 6-12 air exchanges per hour -UV germicide irradiation/ high efficiency air filter is used, mask, N95 mask for TB Droplet (SPIDERMAn) Scarlet fever Sepsis Streptococcal pharyngitis Pertussis Parvovirus B19 Pneumonia Influenza Diphtheria Epiglottitis Rubella Mumps Mycoplasmal/Meningeal Pneumonia AdeNovirus Management: -private room -mask Contact (MRS.WEE) Multi-resistant organism Respiratory Syncitial Virus S.kin Infections (e.g:VCHIPSS- Varicella zoster, Cutaneous Diphtheria, Herpes Simplex, Impetigo, Pediculosis, Staph infection and Scabies) Wound Infection Enteric Infection (Clostridium Difficile) Eye Infection (Conjunctivitis) Management: -MRSA: gloves, gown, goggles, face shield -patients should be in a private room
  3. Congrats wannabRN86! That's great news. I also took the NCLEX and failed after 265 questions so I'm hoping to pass next time in 75 questions also. The 5.5 hours was brutal for me. I also focused on just getting as many questions under my belt as I could without taking my time and reviewing the rationales. Now I'm reviewing every question I do whether it's right or wrong and studying content as well. I'm taking Kaplan as well. It's helping a little but I still don't see where all the praises come from. I really hope to pass next time. My test is in two weeks. I'm nervous but focused & hoping for the best :) Question...does the trick work right away or should I wait a little awhile when I get home from the test?
  4. hi r&r10, can you please send me the compilated review? [email protected] thanks
