Chronic dialysis nurse/patient ratio
Does anyone know (if there is a current national or state level law that mandates a nurse/patient ratio) what the nurse/patient ratio is for chronic dialysis? More specifially...in Arkansas? I understand that in chronic the RN takes care of more patients versus acute; however, I can't seem to find anything regarding a law specifically stating any numbers. Thanks.

Does anyone know how long we are on campus prior to going to the clinical sites for Nursing 2? Just curious. Thanks!

Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Yeah, I was supposed to take it yesterday too LOL. I made arrangements with the lab skills coordinator and the nursing department when I got my orders. They said my reason was completely understandable and that I could take it as soon as I get back or the first week of school whichever is first. Everyone was so nice and understanding! Thanks for the reminder though...trust me I was freaking out about everything before I left. I managed to get my physical done, all my titers (which I'm good b/c of vaccinations when I was active duty), order my uniforms, pick up books and order books, and anything else. I already had PPD's and CPR cert. done from my current job at an ALF. I think I did all this in about two days. LOL. Did the test take you the whole four hours to do? I'll be in touch with the coordinator soon again as I get closer to my end date. Talk soon.

Hey, Actually, I think the new syllabus in on-line in Angel where you described to me. It must have just went up, because when I was on there this weekend, it was just the old one. Yeah, I wasn't sure how important the workshop would be. That would be great. Keep me posted! I will PM you my email soon when I get some more time...thanks again! I am trying my hardest to get home the earliest. Thanks...

LOL...yeah math isn't to hard for me, but looking at the handouts on the NIP website intimidated me a just a little. Yes, I recall them saying not to miss the workshop. Unfortunately, I can't attend due to be being deployed. If all goes planned, I don't fly back until the day of the workshop (I believe the 18th). When I got some free time the other night, I was actually able to follow the old one just fine, but I'm sure there is some trick to it. If you learn anything useful could you keep me posted, that is if you have the time? I would appreciate that so much. This deployment threw me for a loop...thanks, have a good one!

Yeah...I called this morning and they don't have it yet. Thanks though...I was just coming on here to post they didn't have it. You beat me to it Thanks for the guidance to the old one in angel...I'm assuming the new one will be somewhat similiar??? At least I had a chance to look at the old one. Are you going to any of the workshops they are offering?

Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Thanks to both of you. Yeah...unfortunately I'm in southern Louisianna until a few days before school starts so I'm not able to go back to the bookstore; however, they have been calling me each time something comes in (but no syllabus yet). I think the syllabus workshop is a new thing this year. I was going to go to it if I was home...but seems like it's not a big deal. Math is my greatest, so no fears there. Thanks for the advice in angel, I glance in there soon when I get a chance. Keep me posted when and if you get a syllabus soon. I appreciate it guys...

Has anyone gotten their Nursing I syllabus yet? I went to the bookstore a while ago and they didn't have it. Just curious where we start in the Nursing Fundamentals book (or if it will even say in the syllabus). I'm deployed now in New Orleans and I may not get back in time for the syllabus workshop either...oh well...just curious...

At the nursing orientation that I just went to for this upcoming fall class, two people I knew are from Tampa and from outside Pinellas. I assume it's not impossible but Pinellas residents are given priority until that list is exhausted.- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Yeah, I checked this morning and saw my schedule too. I got first pick as well! Good luck to all :)- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Do we take the TEAS test after/during orientation? Does anyone know? Just curious...thanks.- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Now come to think of it, I completely forgot about that. Yes, it was in my acceptance letter. I believe it is for distance learners and we'll in my opinion if you have done your pre-req's at SPC then you probably have already done this. I'm sure it's not a big deal. The main thing is the June 30th orientation, but I'm sure it won't hurt to do it.- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Thanks. No troubles registering, we do that during the upcoming orientation. Just don't know if I want to do days or nights (or if I'll even get my pick), that's all. So, you pick based on instuctors and not clinical sites? I thought it was both. That makes sense though (instructors).- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Does anyone know where the clinical sites are going to be? I know we register during orientation. This weekend I was able to pull the instructors and schedules out of MySPC doing a search for classes for NUR1021/1021L and now I can't see them anymore. It was for this upcoming fall semester 2010-2011. Also, really I have no idea to choose night or days. I know nights goes through summer. I'm just about clueless right now...I suppose any info or advice would be appreciated.- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Jess, Orientation is JUNE 30th. It says it consists of two parts and starts at 9am in the auditorium at HEC. First part is the student services orientation and the second part is your selected program orientation. It also says that registration will take place during this process. That's about it. Not too much in the packets, just this and background stuff (which you do online immediately) and drug testing. I did background last night and I'm going to Qwest today for drug test. Both of these have to be done by June 25th.- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Got the orientation packet today. It's on the 30th like mentioned on here.- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Morgan, Thanks for the info. I just sent my notice of intent out yesterday and I guess I'm waiting on the oreintation packets. Here's a question. I thought I saw somewhere on here about shoes, but I wasn't sure. I had to buy a new pair today for my job anyways b/c my running shoes weren't doing the trick. I bought NB walking (but all white). Is any all white shoe okay?- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Alright, I see. Thanks for the info. Yeah, it can change from semester to semester (clinical sites), but usually just varies slightly. Let's see...I was going to ask you something else...do you know when we actually take the TEAS exam? I guess we will find this out in due time as well.- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Thank you, same here. I guess I'll have a bunch of questions once I head up to talk to the advisors. I'm assuming we find out about classes/schedules/clinical sites all at oreintation?- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
I'm right there with you in regards to dates and stuff. All it said in my letter that oreintation packets will be sent out in the near future with more info and a background/drug screening needs to be completed within 90 days. It was pretty vague. It did say that the HEC will send out more information in regards to oreintation dates. So, it looks like there might be more than one. Either way, I'm sure there will be plenty of notice.- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Thanks. I don't know what is actually on the test. It is just to see where you actually are at in regards to basic knowledge. All I got was my letter stating my admission date and a notice of intent (replying for my seat) to send back to the HEC. Have you gotten an oreintation packet yet?- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Got my letter yesterday and was accepted for August. Good luck to all!- Anyone else applying for fall 2010 SPC nursing program?
Well, the 2nd round of letters are going out soon...- SPC - Competitive Admissions
New grad's get jobs; however, it's just not as easy as it once was. People have to work harder and given that you have medical experience already (besides nursing school) is a plus. Prior CNA's, PCT's, etc. is a plus. Also, as the other member posted, it's all about connections and networking and you can do this by getting your foot in the door. - SPC - Competitive Admissions
