  1. Does anyone know (if there is a current national or state level law that mandates a nurse/patient ratio) what the nurse/patient ratio is for chronic dialysis? More specifially...in Arkansas? I understand that in chronic the RN takes care of more patients versus acute; however, I can't seem to find anything regarding a law specifically stating any numbers. Thanks.
  2. Does anyone know how long we are on campus prior to going to the clinical sites for Nursing 2? Just curious. Thanks!
  3. Yeah, I was supposed to take it yesterday too LOL. I made arrangements with the lab skills coordinator and the nursing department when I got my orders. They said my reason was completely understandable and that I could take it as soon as I get back or the first week of school whichever is first. Everyone was so nice and understanding! Thanks for the reminder though...trust me I was freaking out about everything before I left. I managed to get my physical done, all my titers (which I'm good b/c of vaccinations when I was active duty), order my uniforms, pick up books and order books, and anything else. I already had PPD's and CPR cert. done from my current job at an ALF. I think I did all this in about two days. LOL. Did the test take you the whole four hours to do? I'll be in touch with the coordinator soon again as I get closer to my end date. Talk soon.
  4. Hey, Actually, I think the new syllabus in on-line in Angel where you described to me. It must have just went up, because when I was on there this weekend, it was just the old one. Yeah, I wasn't sure how important the workshop would be. That would be great. Keep me posted! I will PM you my email soon when I get some more time...thanks again! I am trying my hardest to get home the earliest. Thanks...
  5. LOL...yeah math isn't to hard for me, but looking at the handouts on the NIP website intimidated me a just a little. Yes, I recall them saying not to miss the workshop. Unfortunately, I can't attend due to be being deployed. If all goes planned, I don't fly back until the day of the workshop (I believe the 18th). When I got some free time the other night, I was actually able to follow the old one just fine, but I'm sure there is some trick to it. If you learn anything useful could you keep me posted, that is if you have the time? I would appreciate that so much. This deployment threw me for a loop...thanks, have a good one!
  6. Yeah...I called this morning and they don't have it yet. Thanks though...I was just coming on here to post they didn't have it. You beat me to it Thanks for the guidance to the old one in angel...I'm assuming the new one will be somewhat similiar??? At least I had a chance to look at the old one. Are you going to any of the workshops they are offering?
  7. Thanks to both of you. Yeah...unfortunately I'm in southern Louisianna until a few days before school starts so I'm not able to go back to the bookstore; however, they have been calling me each time something comes in (but no syllabus yet). I think the syllabus workshop is a new thing this year. I was going to go to it if I was home...but seems like it's not a big deal. Math is my greatest, so no fears there. Thanks for the advice in angel, I glance in there soon when I get a chance. Keep me posted when and if you get a syllabus soon. I appreciate it guys...
  8. Has anyone gotten their Nursing I syllabus yet? I went to the bookstore a while ago and they didn't have it. Just curious where we start in the Nursing Fundamentals book (or if it will even say in the syllabus). I'm deployed now in New Orleans and I may not get back in time for the syllabus workshop either...oh well...just curious...
  9. At the nursing orientation that I just went to for this upcoming fall class, two people I knew are from Tampa and from outside Pinellas. I assume it's not impossible but Pinellas residents are given priority until that list is exhausted.
  10. Yeah, I checked this morning and saw my schedule too. I got first pick as well! Good luck to all :)
  11. Do we take the TEAS test after/during orientation? Does anyone know? Just curious...thanks.
  12. Now come to think of it, I completely forgot about that. Yes, it was in my acceptance letter. I believe it is for distance learners and we'll in my opinion if you have done your pre-req's at SPC then you probably have already done this. I'm sure it's not a big deal. The main thing is the June 30th orientation, but I'm sure it won't hurt to do it.
  13. Thanks. No troubles registering, we do that during the upcoming orientation. Just don't know if I want to do days or nights (or if I'll even get my pick), that's all. So, you pick based on instuctors and not clinical sites? I thought it was both. That makes sense though (instructors).
  14. Does anyone know where the clinical sites are going to be? I know we register during orientation. This weekend I was able to pull the instructors and schedules out of MySPC doing a search for classes for NUR1021/1021L and now I can't see them anymore. It was for this upcoming fall semester 2010-2011. Also, really I have no idea to choose night or days. I know nights goes through summer. I'm just about clueless right now...I suppose any info or advice would be appreciated.
