  1. SchnoorRN, thank you SO much for allowing access to your flash cards. Your story is very inspiring and motivating. My 20-year dream of becoming a nurse is on the horizon... one more year to go (BSN Fast Track program that starts in a few weeks), I graduate next May. God Bless! AM
  2. You may want to look into this program Academic Programs - RN to BSN - United States University
  3. Rio Salado Online. School is located in Arizona. Exams are proctored, but all work is done online so location is irrelevant. I took all the courses you need online while deployed and have since been accepted into an accredited program. Best of luck!
  4. Hope this covers all the questions here.... As far as I know, there are no classes during the day. Once in the program, your schedule would be as follows: one class in the evening and one clinical (12 hours). There are times when you may have two classes and the clinical.
  5. ANValenzuelaRN, your last post articulated the intent of this program extremely well. (I too just completed the school's Chicano Studies course and have applied for the January cohort) After reading through this thread, I get the impression that the program is not designed for those who seem to be most confused by it. Hopefully this may clear up several misconceptions. Basically, the ELM program is designed for people who already have a bachelor's degree and want to pursue a career change into the field of nursing. The structure of this program enables an individual, who already holds a degree, to complete the CA BRN nurse education requirements needed to become eligible to take the licensing exam. The certificate that is awarded upon successful completion of this program is nothing more than a piece of paper that states the individual completed the required standardized curriculum in order to become a Registered Nurse in CA. The "Entry Level Master's" description can be confusing and misleading when not interpreted appropriately; this 16-month program merely serves as an entrance or the entrance in which one can eventually continue their educational pursuit into advanced practice - a master's program. Bottom line is, another bachelor's degree has no purpose when all that is needed is a license to begin the clinical experience phase of the overall goal. The ELM program is an ideal stepping-stone for someone with the desire to progress into the advanced practice field because it is the most cost-effective way to obtain an RN licensure so you can start working as a nurse to gain the recommended clinical experience preferred prior to completion of a master's program. The end result or "the big picture" - a NP with clinical experience.
  6. If your program will accept the transfer credit, Rio Salado Online. I took Stats, A and P I and II, Micro, Gen Chem, and Nutrition all online while I was deployed to Iraq for a year. The online courses are not easy though, but if you have the discipline to study as much as the virtual classroom requires you will do just fine Best of luck to you :)
  7. Is there anyone who wouldn't mind sharing your experience with the MEPN at USD? I considered several ABSN programs in the area and the USD program seems to fit my goals a bit more - once I get some clinical experience with the CNL Master's degree my goal is to ultimately go back to school to become a NP with WH specialty. I also did some research on the APU Master's programs. Is this the better route to go?? Any feedback on my tentative educational plan/route to achieve the end result would be very much appreciated. :)
  8. The A just isn't the same without the learning the P at the same time... When taken separate, crucial concepts may be harder to understand - in this massive subject area, not to mention the huge amount of material to learn, understand, and most importantly retain FOREVER, is best approached using the concept of complimentary structure and function. A and P I and II definitely required tackling a very large bull with huge horns; the learning process was quite fun and very rewarding. I enjoyed all of the topics, some more difficult to tackle than others, but if there's one area that still has me puzzled, it's the Endocrine system.
