hmm, well we have to bring our books to school. We have the books with the chapter(s) we were to read the night before and chapter tests that are part of the book we have to do for homework and have ready the next day. We also have several "study guide" workbooks we have to do and bring in for class and they check EVERYONE's homework, EVERY TIME so no messing around there. I also find that, if during lecture, I am busy trying to copy the powerpoint and take notes on everything said I actually miss very important info they SAY during lecture and many times what the SAY, indicates what will be on the test. Usually, I take my book, previously read the night before, and simply underline from the chapter things they talk about in class and write in the chapter specifically highlighted points made so I can spend more time listening and less time writing. All this said I will agree that the unbinding of the books, and putting chapter by chapter in a binder is a brilliant idea and think I am going to run over to staples as soon as I can get shoes on!

You guys are NOT gonna believe this but seriously...I couldn't make this up. RN (male) was caught erecting pt member, Why? He thought you had to have the member erect in order to do the catheter. OMG!!

Hi, Lo0vely Well I can tell you that everyone will say the net study guide is great to use, but I didn't have personal experience with that as I didn't have time to get it. I only had about a week to study, it would have taken that long for it to get to me. I got the cliffs notes for the net, and used http://www.testprepreview.com/net_math_practice.htm http://amby.com/educate/math/4-2_prop.html The test preview site had a reading section too. Personally I was more concentrated on the math side of things since it's my weakness, the reading format they test you on is actually really good for you to master since it helps tremendously with your studying when your in. There is a ton of reading and homework and if you feel you have to read every little word it will be harder to get things done in a reasonable amount of time. I'm not the fastest reader ever, but I am learning how to isolate the important stuff. There are many excellent threads on here as far as what to do and honestly I think the net experience may vary depending on the school, for example I know most people took the test on a computer mine was on paper, my math portion was only 30 questions, but it was timed. It didn't get too far into the algebra, no addition subtraction all percents and fractions really. No science or biology, but again I will stress my experience may not be what you will experience. I was thinking of starting a thread that recaps what I studied that week so you can get an idea of what you might experience when you start. Honestly, I will say if they tell you not to work... trust them...they mean it. If you can dedicate your time to it, if you can stay focused and disciplined you can do it. But then again, i'm only a week into it so you can take me more seriously when I graduate!:)

Okay, so i was accepted into the program that starts this monday, (day after tomorrow) and I have to admit..I was kinda excited about buying scrubs for the first time! I am sure they will get old after a while and I will probably complain about them, but for my first day in class I'm digging the idea. What a dork, right? It's like a first date, all excited about what I can discover what it's about... Anyone else enjoy buying scrubs for the first time?:dncgbby:

Thanks everyone! To update, I did pass the interview and was admitted as the last student for this session. The school only admits 20 at a time so I was number 20..whew! The cool thing I found out was that they upped the standards for the test to get better students in since the last class had many that flunked out. Good thing: I must have done well on the test. Bad thing: it must be hard with so many ppl flunking out. Ladicapricorn841 Why did you move out of the Ct. area? I have some clients that just moved to Boston, they were Pfizer scientists and they suffered the shifting in the economy..although i think I should use a better word than "suffer". Your program is 10 months? Mine is 15. Shamcd, think you could share your ability to retain medical information with me? Wouldn't it be nice if you could. I wonder, in 10 years, or even 5 years, is the industry going to become too saturated with nurses considering the push to go that direction? I am sure there are many ppl out there, like myself ,with a knee jerk reactions to the economy and it's instability which leads them to consider the medical field and all it offers. One filtering tool is that it isn't easy to accomplish becoming a nurse which ,when I am done, I will be proud to be a part of! :stdnrsrck:

So...I passed the NET at Porter and Chester in Rocky Hill Ct. The classes start March 8th and I still have to get through the interview and the financial aid but otherwise..I'm in! I was soo anxious about the test, wasn't sure if I passed (I'm not good at guessing how well I do on a test, especially when I'm really nervous), now I know I passed and am anxious about how hard the next 15 months are gonna be and am petrified of flunking out! This site has become my new Bible as I have read it nearly every day, I am so thankful for all the info that is passed on here. It really has helped my understanding of the industry in a way I never would have known. I can't say being a nurse has always been a life's dream, (I have historically been more of an artistic type) but as I get older.. I find myself drawn to what this industry offers and the range of care available as I bridge over to RN...of course if I can make it through the LPN program. So I guess I am here to introduce myself and to ask you all to be my tripod and prop me up as I will do the same for you!
