  1. I am in search of a hospital based nursing program. I currently work within a hospital as a nurse assistant. Really want to relocate so all and any info will help me.
  2. Hospital in southeastern Michigan midnight shift 12 hr shift...$12.22 with 0.50 shift premium and $1.00 for weekends. With no experience in hospital or nursing home setting just direct care but have CNA
  3. But have family and friends....even the nurse I shawdowed....all said its about who you know to get employed in the hospital.. One nurse told me she spoke with one of her nursing instructors and they spoke with a hiring manager in the hospital who gave her her big break
  4. To be honest.....its who you know. I recently got an interview and an offer from a hospital and CNA...but I also have been appling for the hospital since I left high school. I want to say it was the luck of the draw but just keep appling and updating your resume. But I do know they want at least 6 months - a year of experience in your field.....I hope that helps
  5. HEY EVERYONE!!! Just wanted to say thanks for the GREAT ADVICE!!! I received the job offer today, and she said she would call me later if not in the morning (I called her) to pick up or complete my pre-employment screening!!!

  7. Thank you all for the responses By the process going so fast I didn't want to be left out so I did all three; First I faxed a thank you letter to the nurse recruiter, the nurse manager who interviewed me, and also the young lady I shadowed. I also emailed the hr nurse recruiter and the nurse manager ( good thing I did this cause when I spoke with the hr represenative she stated all the faxes come hr) I also sent a letter via snail mail bit was also told it was a 50/50 they would receive them due to all employment process goes via internet and they fear you may be trying to apply by. Mailing your resume in. When I spoke withthe nurse recruiter she sounded very excited and alsothsnk me for send her and the nurse manager the email. That was very nice. I will keep you all posted on the job offer keep your fingers crossed!!!!
  8. Thanks so excited been trying to read up on all the information I can on PCU!!!
  9. Hello all I recently applied for a nursing assistant position at a hospital, so excited to say that I passed their nursing assistant test and was set up for an interview with the charge nurse on the PCU unit. SO EXCITED!!! Went for my interview today and so happy to say that I was invited back to shadow for 4hrs (but the shift I'm hiring for is a midnight 12hr.) I asked would I be able to stay longer just so I could see the shift from beginning to end. (Hey she said the purpose of shadowing is to see if you like the unit and would the unit be a match for you.) She said she just wanted to make me aware I would not be getting paid for none of this (really don't care it's the education factor of it all). I'm so excited but have a question or two; After the shadowing what would be the next step? It is a good thing to be asked to come in and shawdow? And guys any advice you have would help me out a lot.:redpinkhe

  15. Detroit, Michigan I am a new CNA so not sure if this basic pay. But just got hired at Nursing home and pay is $10.25 base, $0.25 per shift difference, not sure about the difference in weekend pay. But won't start the new job til Tuesday.
  16. They called me back this afternoon and I got another interview tomorrow afternoon with the DON:yeah:. I'm very excited but kinda up set. So many are trying to discourage me from the position because they feel like its not enough money. Honestly I'm not doing it for the money (CNA), I'm doing it for the education and training :redbeathe. MY GOAL IS TO BECOME A NURSE . If I have to start from the bottom up to get there I'm ok with that that in return will make me a wonderful nurse. Sorry if this positve turned into a negative and a rant but just need to express myself to someone who may understand.
  17. The interview went well, he was trying to get me to speak with the DON but she was busy. He said he would give a call later this evening if not tomorrow

It's for a nursing assistant position.....sorry I posted on the CNA board but no answer. I recently completed my CNA certification and really want to find employment before the spring semester start. I called HR and the rep gave me an email address to contact, yet I still haven't received a response. Help, at my wits end, I have head so many great things about HFHS and currently attending HFCC

Good morning all , recently I applied for a position with Henry Ford Health System (main campus) about a week ago. I recieved the pre-employment screening questionaire and sent it back. After about 2 days I checked the application status and it stated scheduled for phone screening (interview). As of today it will be a week since my status was changed and I haven't heard anything from them. Do you thin I should give human resources a call or be patient and let them call me.
  20. Thank you, the words that u expressed is exactly what u was trying to explain to my husband, he just want getting it...lol... So the three I've choosen doesn't seem as if it doesn't fit. I was worried that the three things that I had choosen was out in left field and thoughtbi need to choose something else. Thank u!!!!!!
  21. Hello all, finally got an job interview at Tendercare, the employer (during the phone call to schedule the interview ) he asked me to think about 3 things I would want from an employer. Can you please give me a little insight the 3 things I am considering.PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!! 1. Communication 2. Knowledge/Education 3. Advancement
  22. Congrats!!!!!
  23. Here in Michigan it's required to take a training course or finished 1st semester of nursing program
  24. I passed on my second try...and of course I got that one skill that I failed. My first time my skills were; dressing patient with weak right side, drainage of cather bag, and ROM lower. And the second time, drainage of catheter bag, cathere care, and transfer. They were excellent and my nurse was patient. I also had a dummy and a live model. Good luck and hope this help.
