  1. well the whole experience is awful...loud even with earplugs and headphones you can hear all your 6-7 neighbors squirming. You have a lot of pressure on the day...you cannot bring anything in except your drivers license/passport and perhaps they give you earplugs if the center allows it. you have to do a palm hand scan and finger prints...hand scan each time you leave and come back from bathroom. Which by the way detracts from your time. The questions I got came out of left field. Some were easier but, most were so much harder than kaplan, Davis's, HESI, ATI any I've done. It could have just been my luck though. I got lots of med q's I had heard of but, being newer meds I didn't know there side effects. They don't ask simple what does this med do type q's. Critical thinking has a lot to do with dissecting the question...if you read into it in the wrong direction you are in for trouble.
  2. I am curious to hear your story...I know you must be heart broken but, you are not alone. You can pass this NCLEX and will don't give up! What have you tried and do you have trouble focusing? You may have some sort of learning disability. I only say this because I do...I have a very difficult time focusing on these types of questions. Dissecting them seems impossible when there are so many questions with, what seems to me like, so little time. I don't know your story but, perhaps you should seek accommodations...such as a private room or more time. I also hope you seek out study materials that best stimulate your learning style. Contact the State Board of Nursing. God Bless you
  3. Check out the VA they have great benefits there is a stepdown position available in NM if your looking in Oregon the only large hospital is in Portland and it's a magnet hospital but again very competitive. Oregon has positions open at White City near medford but it is not a hospital more of a ED that is not such high acuity although you get some crazy things. Also roseburg is a large Oregon facility and they will likely be building a larger facility in Eugene soon. Don't give up! Through IHS there is a clinic in Salem in need of help and they pay loans off... other than that I am unsure but I will keep you updated as I am keeping my options open.
  4. You may check into RVMC for cardiac step down or whatever job is open http://www.asante.org/ or look through Providence in Medford Oregon. Best of Luck

Alaska is not hard to get into...you are probably golden since you're native. So how was Santa Fe's hospital I may be working there?
  6. I've looked into this one but It sounded like you had to for sure have a job secured and have your application in prior to my graduation in June...maybe your graduating prior to the deadline (March 11th or somewhere in there). So I've been looking into IHS which pays up to $40,000 of loans w/ a 2 year commitment. By Far pays the most of any repayment program I've come across. Check into it IHS.gov Good Luck
  7. Well they make it sound completely desolate maybe it is in Portland...I'm in Ashland small town a branch of OHSU. There are 3 hospitals within 15 minutes Prov and RMC are larger. I believe they have new grad orientation programs. I will likely be moving because the Loan repayment program I'll likely be going through (IHS) will have me in AZ, MT, NM. Well there are more but those are the only ones I would consider...Why do you want to come to Oregon? I LOVE this state and I've lived all over it from the coast to Portland to southern Oregon. I would say avoid eastern Oregon if you want a semi-city life. Portland is fun but busy traffic YUK... Eugene and Salem are the second largest. Bend is pretty and it snows. I love ashland like I said it's small but sunny almost everyday and semi-liberal (laid back hippy yuppies). Uh what area do you want to practice in...Med surg? Mental health, community health, public? Well I'll give you the skinny just fill me in some more... Oh check out River Bend in Eugene it's a brand new facility and it's large. K good luck lady:nurse:

:redbeatheMain Loan Repayment...http://www.ihs.gov/JobsCareerDevelop/DHPS/LRP/ :redpinkheLink to the priority list...http://www.ihs.gov/JobsCareerDevelop/DHPS/LRP/priority_list.cfm MAKE SURE TO CLICK NURSING/LIST BY SCORE :idea:How priority list works : basically if you choose a site that is ranked 70 or above you are very likely to get your pick...many sites are at the 100 level need (aka your guaranteed, if you get accepted). I am unsure about what these sites are like but I have had experience at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. Hands down one of the best facilities I've ever been to, it's a magnet hospital too. But it's cold there so I'm Leary of AK. Anyways hope this helps. The Gallup hospital is large if you are interested in a specialty field v.s. public health type stuff at a smaller hospital. I am hoping for CCU/ICU or med Surg so I may have to consider Gallup. I wanted to be in Santa Fe because it's close to Albuquerque. contact a recruiter General Phone: (301) 443-3396. If you are of Native decent you also have a leg up. I'll keep you filled in with what I learn as I apply for this myself. I've done a lot of research and it seems like the best option if you owe a lot of money:twocents:.
  9. Check out the IHS Loan repayment they have 2 hospitals in MT that desperately need nurses...IHS.gov good luck

IHS Loan Replacement will guarantee you a position in Santa Fe (indian hospital), Gallup, or Northern Navajo medical center) There are a few more in the state that are also on the high priority list. Anywho Santa fe's hospital is smaller (39 beds) while Gallup has 99 and NNavajo 55. I am considering these options from Oregon so I thought I'd share my findings hope it helps...oh yeah IHS pays up to $20,000per year with a 2year min so $40,000 is not bad if your in debt. Housing is not included in Santa Fe as far as I know.
  11. I am strongly considering the Santa Fe Indian Hospital as my Loan repayment 2 year obligation option:nurse: I'm a new Grad and i was wondering if they have a new grad mentor program or orientation. I will be moving from Oregon, I am wondering what to expect at this hospital...is it tiny? Is there an ICU/CCU? How expensive is the cost of living I've noticed rent is a bit steep. If anyone has any advice as to which hospital is better (eg. Gallup, Northern Navajomed ctr, Fort Defiance, Tuba City).I am currently in the CCU completing my integrative practicum. I am open to med-surg, ICU/CCU, short-stay, PACU, etc. Thanks for any input especially r/t new grad programs
