  1. If your daughter chooses a private school she will end up paying for it. She should have no problem recieving at least a pell grant from California. As far as the Cal Grants are concered I'm not sure if she will meet those requirments. I am attending Mt. Saint Mary's for my associates in Nursing. An associates degree will cost roughtly $42,000 at this private school. I had to choose this school because it's the only one that offeres nursing classes at night and on weekends. If I could go the CC route I certainly would!
  2. Right now everyone is having trouble finding a job, in every feild. But, in two years everything could and most likely will change. When the new Healthcare reform goes into effect and people have more access to healthcare the market for healthcare workers will go back up.
  3. I would suggest holding out until you finish some nursing school. You're going to be learning those things in Nursing School so no need to pay for it twice.
  4. Good luck with that. I never got a response back from my e-mails to her, lol.
  5. I applied straight to ADN and was told not all of my credits transfered but got accepted into the PRE-ADN. Joelle told me should could not tell me right now when the classes were. She said the times vary. However, since we have the option to take some classes at a CC this should solve any problems. I get off work at 4:30. Most of the classes at CC have evening classes that start after 5pm. The only class that doesn't start where I need it to at the CC is Chemistry. It starts at 3:30. Mount is known for serving working adults. I'm sure something can be done to accomodate our schedules for the pre-req's.
  6. I am in the same boat as you. I work full time and I am the breadwinner. I have a two year old son. I need night classes or weekend classes. I looked at both routes. The cheaper route was to go straight to RN. LVN trade schools run anywhere from 15,000 to 30,000 in LA. The thing you need to be aware of is LVN school does not cover all prereq's you'll need to enter the RN program. Since some of my credits didn't transfer I decided to finish the prereq's at the Mount. I was worried that the classes would still not fit into my scheduled so I contacted the assistant admissions director and she said that if the classes do not fit my schedule I can potition to go to a community college to take the classes and still be apart of the mount's nursing program.
  7. Mine still says Pre too. I applied for ADN not pre. I'm wondering if not all of my credits transfered and I was placed in the Pre-Nursing section? I guess I'll find out when I get the documents in the mail.
  8. I just checked the Web Advisor and it says accepted!
  9. I'm at work so I looked at Web Advisor and it says Accepted!!!!
  10. Colleges and Universities are starting to offer ADN to MSN (You can apply for a BA once you've completed enough credits). I plan on doing this after I finish my AA.
  11. Ah. I thought you had to take the sciences as a part of your LVN training? I guess not :) I'll probably need to retake Chemistry and Anatomy. I have a Cal Grant that I don't want to go to waste this year so I hope I can get in somewhere! I'd hate for it to go to waste.
  12. Are you unsure about your transfer credits also?
  13. I asked about the AA-Pre Nursing when I called to find out when they would be sending out acceptance letters. The person who answered the phone said everyone's acct. says that. I wasn't sure if all my prereq's were going to transfer so I asked if I'd be offered a spot at their school to finish retake them if they didn't transfer and I was told yes.
  14. Just curious as to where you find the money to pay for this program?
  15. What state do you live in? I made 29,000 last year and have one child. I got the max Pell Grant ($4,000 I think?) and $9,000+ Cal Grant.
