  1. I lost about 120 lbs in the last year and a half because i was getting into nursing school, and cant pack all that weight around on the job. If my program didnt keep me so damn busy all the time, id be in the gym more. But I get there at least three days a week now. Once im out of school at least i can go everyday again.
  2. Swing into a barnes and noble or borders book store and give a look at some of the nursing diagnosis books they have there. They are really helpful. My school had one in the book pack for classes and its helped a ton. And I suppose its like anything else. the more you do it the better you will get
  3. Yeah i am aware of what the guidelines for receiving assistance are. But you and I both know there are many...ok the vast majority that make more money than that by doing things that are out of the legal limit. And these people dont have checking accounts for that reason. Everything is cash so it shows no records. AND on top of that we dont have enough people going around checking up on these leeches. Lastly, there should be random drug screenings for these people. Because if I have to pass one to be a nurse and pay for their crap, they should have to pass one to sit on their lazy asses and take my money. Those requirements for looking for work from unemployment is just a forifice. All you have to do is say you looked, not even provide proof that you are doing so. Its a sham in all honesty. And there is plenty of work for these people to do. They can clean the sides of the roads and free ways. They can landscape around buildings and parks. They can do all the crap work. The best part is they wouldnt want to do it so maybe they would get off their asses and go find a job they would be ok with doing.
  4. hmmm. Ok it would be unwise to assume there are not lobbyists out there for all walks of life. Including people who are a tiny bit below average intelligence yet whos actions would suggest anything but that.
  5. stupid is a relative term. But its naive to think that there arent lobbyists out there for everyone's "cause"
  6. Please, there are lobbyists for everyone. Dont be naive.
  7. Hospitals need to be putting birth control in high school kids lunches....Also, life and limb are negotiable terms. If people can misconstrue words in the constitution to say it claims its the governments job to give them welfare...then there are people out there that will say their cold is life or limb..their head ache is life or limb. We all know its not. But theres a lot of stupid people out there that want free stuff and will find lobbyists to get it for them
  8. I agree. The problem is where to draw the line. And thats why we are going in to social health care. Too many people have had their hands out and weaker individuals give in to their sorrows. Well they just continue to milk it till the well is dry. And there are millions of people doing that right now. So I do agree helping people should be something we do, but there needs to be lines drawn on who qualifies for "help" and more importantly set deadlines for how long they can receive it.
  9. Im not saying its a fool proof plan. But Id rather people plan ahead and something fall through then to never plan at all and hop on the system's teet right away. People living slightly below their means is a start to getting through tough times and even to plan ahead. It seems the more people make the more the spend and its stupid and irresponsible. You cant tell what the future will bring, nobody can. But, you can plan as best as you can for it and look at some pit falls that may happen in the future. Chance favors the prepared, and hoping for the best but preparing for the worst is a safe way to get through life IMO. I never go into something wanting it to go bad, but I prepare myself as if its going to happen that way my wife, my child, and I will be comfortable for quite some time before we are hitting the wall.
  10. I say they should have thought about that especially in this economy. Not many people have "safe" jobs right now with the way things are going. Lack of foresight is something, unfortunately, a lot of people do not posses. But that is their problem and should not be shared with others who have taken a safe and responsible approach to having children. Nothing in your post would be the fault of anyone but the people themselves.
  11. children are not always a contribution. in todays society some are often further drains on an already struggling economy, school system, and welfare system. and as i said before, if you cannot provide for your children, you have no business having them just to pawn the responsibility off to more responsible individuals and families.
  12. elitist comment? how about logical comment. unless im in a fantasy world, children cost money. and they need health care. if you cannot provide it to your child, doesnt it seem irresponsible to have one? if you couldnt afford clothes for your child wouldnt it be considered irresponsible? there are things kids need. and not being able to provide that for them should be a concern for parents. you dont have to make big bucks to afford children. im not sure where you are getting that from. but we do agree that citizens shouldnt have to pay for their care. but then you add community....why should a community provide for someone elses child if they are struggling to provide for their own? i agree family can help, but shouldnt they do that when its necessary and not feel obligated to do so? lets keep in mind that children do not spontaneously combust into a womans womb.....it takes two people and some friction to make a child. so the "whoops" factor is just an excuse for people not taking the proper precautions and being careless. there are too many ways available (free at that) to men and women to keep from having the "oops" moments. so if having the ability to prevent an accident is readily available and you are too lazy to use them, yet not lazy enough to make a baby...thats considered irresponsible to me. but what do i know...im just a middle class parent.
  13. If you are considered middle class and cannot afford health insurance for a child, then you have some SERIOUS priority issues. And Its not a ridiculous question its a simple question. And its not filled with anything other than what you choose to fill it with. Also, where did I say people with money are responsible? I can name quite a few that are not. That is YOU assuming responsible people are people that have money. Would you like the definition of responsible? Because having money isnt in there. So now all housekeepers, care-givers, landscapers, and factory workers cant afford health care? Im guessing thats not accurate either. Ive figured out where the misinformation is coming from; your mind. I never said people who absolutely cant afford health care are irresponsible. I have said that people who choose other options like expensive clothes and luxuries other than health care are irresponsible. Also people who cannot afford health care for their children could be viewed as irresponsible I think. All these things I say are not directed at the working poor. I applaud anyone who works and makes a contribution no matter how small. My issue is with people that dont even attempt to do so. Id love for everyone to have health care, just not the kind that is now offered at the expense of the taxpayers. Its not fair to the working poor or to any tax payer to pay into a system and let free loaders benefit from it.
  14. People who cannot afford health care should not be having families. Its one thing to birth a child. It is a complete other to be a parent. It isnt anyone elses responsibility to pay for healthcare for kids that arent theirs. And you misquoted me. I addressed the working poor. My comments were in regard to able bodies people not working. If they paid into the system prices would come down from the lack of loss. To end this crying game with you. I will just ask for three reasons the responsible people in this country should have to suffer for those that are irresponsible? Where does it say anywhere that it is our duty (the citizens) to provide for those who are too lazy to provide for themselves?
  15. No, you dont tell them to hang on. You politely tell them, "Hey, you!....yeah you with the iphone. Go get a job...that thing where you do manual labor for money in return.....yeah that thing...good we are on the same page.... So go get one of those and then with the money you EARN you pay for some health insurance." And if they dont like it, they dont get it. Its pretty simple. Listen, its not that expensive to go on blue cross' website and get basic health insurance. Its like 100 bucks here in California. So im not rolling over sorry for these people who "dont have it." they probably just have other things they choose to spend the money on. Also, we can keep people from going to the ER for the standard cold if we made it easier for these hospitals to put these people in collections and attach wages, even if its gov assistance. Making sure people are legal citizens would be the next step in the process (this one is hard and will come with a ton of flack I know. But they skip out on ER payments at the highest rate). So while it may not be popular to refuse care to them, if they cant provide some proof that they can and will pay. Maybe we should. A lot of the people on the system are not grandma and grandpa. There are plenty of young, healthy, able bodied individuals out there suckling the teet of our system. IF you make them work and pay into it, the system will work and the working poor and lower middle class will be helped out. But telling them they are going to work hard and then have the same health care as someone who is lazy doesnt inspire the desire to get out and work hard when you can just get it for free. Anything unearned will never be respected. Its also funny how you make reference to lousy primary care. Freudian slip if ive ever heard one. So lets address that too shall we? Some primaries do provide sub standard care. So we should get this bill going, in which case the good and great primaries will get tired of being told "this is all you can make for your hard work" and they will retire, leave, move to another country. But the lousy ones will stay....and then they will have ten times the patients....care will continue to go down...so how is this health care bill providing quality health care again? And remember, its SOOOOO good that Obama and his family and all the politicians WONT be on it.
  16. Um...well....yeah. See, most people, let me rephrase that. Most logical people dont add things to their to do list when they havent finished the first couple that were on the list. They could at least fix medicare and some of their other abominations first.....THEN attempt to do something else. Its typical government crap. "Oh hey...well (insert gov run program here) isnt really working out too well now. So instead of fixing it....lets make more laws and move on to something else." And the reason the current health care system is pricing people out is because every time someone goes into an ER and stays for a week or so and then skips on the bill because of false ID or ....well...no legal ID at all, the loss has to come from somewhere. Just like every time they increase minimum wage your milk goes up 20 cents. Thats the way it works. You have to make your losses back. So what happens? Well it gets pushed on the responsible people who actually pay into the system. The system would work find if the majority of people actually paid into it. But they dont. There are so many people who dont pay in because they are happy living off the system. That puts the burden on the people that do. Well the responsible peoples' backs are about to break from the weight of all the free loaders. Im going to stop ranting. I will leave with this. The most important part of any business is being to identify a money pit and having the guts and knowledge to know when to say "time to cut our losses."
  17. this is the truth. anyone living in california can tell you that. they want the rest of the country to be as welfare dependent as this worthless state.
  18. Good to hear they dropped the pre existing BS. What state are you from?
  19. Lets be rational here for a minute please. First of all you dont NEED a car. It is not a necessity its a privilege to own and operate a car. So forcing you to pay for auto insurance is what comes with the choice you make to own a car. Making people buy health insurance is completely different. Not everyone needs it or wants it for that matter. So if we are comparing things lets compare apples to apples, not to oranges. And as far as the option goes, its a bunch of hogwash to get americans feel semi comfortable before the sand paper covered rod is inserted where the sun doesnt shine. Big businesses will drop all health insurance for its basic workers because they will save money by doing so and that will force people into the system because they wont be able to afford it on their own due to the increases by insurance companies because of everyone else not paying into it.
  20. I have expressed my opinion. You need but only to read my posts. I am sorry about your wife, and your inability to find affordable health insurance due to pre existing injuries. I do have compassion which is why I nursing is the field I chose. I dont mean to offend you with my opinions but id rather offend someone with my honesty, then to offend them with lies. Insurance companies want profits, sure, thats what keeps them afloat. To be honest, i dont know exactly what to do with health care because there are a ton of variables. BUT, I do know forcing people to buy something is unconstitutional. AND making working Americans pay for things that unwilling americans wont is just as bad.
  21. This would make up for an very large portion of people who complain about health care costs. Anyone remember that movie Obama put together just before the elections where he went to different cities and showed lives of Americans that are hurting. Well theres one lady who has kids, shes single, yada yada. Shes saying how hard it is to buy groceries and put food on the table for her kids...yet shes very overweight, wearing tons of jewelry, AND heres the best part. She had a set of acrylic nails on her hand... LOL I mean seriously? Its hard to buy food, yet you look like you ate the fridge and you are spending 30 bucks on your nails? And you want help? Help yourself first. Now thats not obamas fault, but the lady crying for help is the type of person who complains about the cost of one thing while wasting money on something completely unnecessary.
  22. OOOH, its broken. How? Im sorry to keep doing this to you, but its like when you go to a mechanic to fix your car and the guy goes "Well we fixed your car because its broken." Im the type that will fire back "ok, what was wrong with it, in detail?" Then I follow by saying "I want all my old parts back please." So you were the mechanic just now. "It needed fixin'" well why? "Because its broke." Ok, so hows it broke? There need to be details, because right now it feels like that 5th grade argument of "well just because." Also, I didnt lump you into a group because of an answer you made, and would appreciate the same respect. I dont go around using "obamacare." Assumption is the mother of all screw ups. You as a nurse should know that. And as far as teabagger goes, i know what teabagging is. But in not sure what a teabagger is other than someone who performs teabags?.
  23. Can you please explain why we "need" it? Because people often confuse needs with desires.
  24. Very good post. Tort reform would have cut doctors overhead significantly when they couldnt be sued out the wahzoo. On the flip side, they also should look at taking away licenses of doctors that have made multiple "oopsies".
  25. Now thats funny right there. The original draft may have been. But the finished one...the one that was rushed through before november when things are going to change....that one wasnt. So please be specific. Blanket statements are always far from the truth. And you cant blame every person for their congressman not reading it. For instance, people that live in astronomically liberal areas have no say. I can call my congressman every day of the week, four or five times a day and he will just laugh at me. I wont get him reelected. The bobble head dolls that voted him in will. he works for them, not me. And the more bobble heads procreate, the more bobble heads we have out there that will just sit and take instead of standing up and getting.
